The FastTrak is a two-channel UDMA/100 bootable RAID controller, which naturally comes in a 32-bit PCI form. Each of its channels supports up to two drives, though of course given the nature of EIDE, having two drives on the same channel typically involves a small performance sacrifice because only one of the two devices can be active at any given instant. Still, the controller supports up to four drives, and that capacity may outweigh the slight performance hit incurred by having two drives share an EIDE channel. The FastTrak100 supports RAID levels 0 (striping), 1 (mirroring), and 0+1 (mirrored stripe sets), as well as JBoD (Just a Bunch of Disks). If you elect to use RAID level 1, the controller supports spare drives in for on-the-fly backup if one of the drives fails. It can be used with Windows 2000, Windows 9x and Me, NT4, and even DOS and Windows 3.x.
