It would appear that the Promise TX4 IDE RAID controller is NOT compatible with Pentium IV systems.

I purchased one last week and after spending 4hrs attempting to get it up & running I fired off an e-mail to Promise support. They asked me which motherboard I have as they are having a few issues with some but they have a fix in the works. I replied telling them I had an Asus P4T-E. The latest response from Promise technical support is:

Yes you can expect problems on that motherboard. I have no ETA on this fix unfortunately. A workaround would be to use a PentiumIII platform motherboard.

This is a little bit disappointing as the Promise TX4 is Promise's flagship RAID 0, 1, 0+1 card offering 4 independent IDE channels for excellent workstation/small server performance, however if your workstation/small server is running the latest & greatest from Intel then you wont be able to use this card.
