Tech-Mods has posted a review on the Barracuda 7200.9 SATA2 16mb cache harddisk

For 25 years Seagate has been providing storage solutions for consumer and business that provide reliability and reasonable cost. The Barracuda 7200.9 is Seagate’s newest drive line ranging from 40G to 500G with enhanced performance in mind. The Barracuda series sports 2, 8, or 16 Megs of cache and spins at 7200rpm it also comes with a 5yr warranty. The 7200.9 is equipped with NCQ technology for faster access and better handling of multiple tasks by sorting them and issuing instructions as needed to read from the inside of a disk to the outside and vice versa in SATA environments. The new 7200.9 is SATA2 compatible which means under ideal conditions 300mb/s can be achieved or they can be used on previous SATA controllers. Lets see how well the 2 500G 7200.9 drives perform in single and RAID. Some people will notice that during manufacturing the labels were still saying 7200.8 at 500G this has been corrected since receipt of these units.
