AMD Radeon VII 1440p, 4K & Ultrawide Gaming Performance

In the lead-up to last month’s CES, the rumor mill seemed to be on fire with AMD speculation. One rumor was of an RX Vega follow-up, and lo and behold, Lisa Su announced the Vega-based Radeon VII during AMD’s first-ever CES keynote. The card becomes the world’s first gaming GPU built on a 7nm process, and with 16GB of memory under its hood, it’s built for heavy workloads.

The “VII” in Radeon VII represents the fact that the card is built using 7nm, and also that it’s a follow-up to the original Vega, which spawned RX Vega 56 and 64. The new card has a cool name, but it doesn’t exactly open the doors for bigger or smaller models, and that’s likely on purpose.

Astroneer Review

Survival games have become more and more popular in the past few years, offering incredibly varied experiences that cater to a vast audience of players. No Man’s Sky, while having had a disappointing launch due to missing features that were promised before release, showed that a survival game set in space could definitely work, with the right tweaks to the formula. Astroneer by System Era Softworks shares its basics of space exploration but develops everything in a very interesting way.

Astroneer’s story is incredibly simple in its premise. You are just one of the many Astroneers who are sent out to explore the frontiers of outer space in the 25th century. They risk their lives in harsh environment to unearth rare discoveries and unlock the mysteries of the universe. It’s a rather run-of-the-mill premise, but a game like Astroneer didn’t need much else, to be honest, as you are effectively exploring planets for the sake of it. This basic premise also seems to ease the pressure that comes from having to reach goals in other games, as everything here can be done at one own’s leisure.

SilverStone Tundra Series TD02 RGB CPU Liquid Cooler Review

SilverStone Technology was founded in 2003 on the principle of recognition that merely having innovative expertise within the industry is not enough. SilverStone Technology thrives on challenges of rapid technological advancements and creating an aesthetic standard for the industry. Their products are of high quality. Their product lines include PC Chassis, PSU, Cooling Solution, Storage devices, accessories etc.

The SilverStone has sent us their newly released CPU liquid cooler named as TD-02 RGB. This cooler is from their Tundra series and SilverStone has released two versions of this cooler. Why is that so and what are the differences? I will mention them in the closer look section below. These coolers come in 240 and 120mm sizing with two and one non-addressable RGB lighting fans. The cooler has a total copper base with 0.2mm microchannels on the water block. They are compatible with the Intel LGA 775/115x/20xx and AMD AMx/FM1/FM2 sockets. AMD TR4 is not supported out of the box. There is no dedicated RGB controller in the box and the user is dependent on the lighting solution of the motherboard which makes me wonder what about the users who don’t have onboard lighting headers! This lighting can be connected to the SilverStone LSB01 controller which needs to be purchased separately.

SuperMicro C9Z390-PGW Z390 LGA1151 Motherboard Review

SuperMicro have quite impressed us with their latest C9Z390-PGW board, that features server-quality hardware components for the VRMs, a Broadcom ExpressLane PLX PEX 8747 that is able to take x16 lanes from the CPU and outputs no less than x32 PCI-E 3.0 lanes, that helps when using dual-VGA configurations, no less than two LAN interfaces, one being 10Gbit (Aquantia® AQC107 10G Ethernet Controller) and a good Realtek ALC1220 implementation. Wi-Fi is also available via the pre-installed Intel AC 9560 module, that also comes with Bluetooth 5.0 compatibility.

Testing AMD Radeon VII Double-Precision Scientific And Financial Performance

With this week’s release of AMD’s Radeon VII, we’ve taken a look at performance for both gaming, and professional workloads. While the card traded blows with NVIDIA’s comparable GeForce RTX 2080, there were a few cases where the Radeon VII really came into its own.

Due to time constraints, we couldn’t fit all of the tests we wanted to into our launch articles. Now that the rush to meet the embargo is over, we can look into some of the more quirky aspects of Radeon VII.

When AMD announced the Radeon VII at CES, it was obvious that the card shared many characteristics with its bigger brother, the Radeon Instinct MI50. That’s an enterprise-grade GPU with uncapped double-precision floating-point compute. At the time, it was widely speculated that the VII would inherit this FP64 performance, but that was shot down after we contacted AMD’s head of marketing.
