The function of the waterblock, though important, is quite singular. It absorbs heat from the CPU so that the liquid flowing through the cooling system can efficiently dissipate it. The waterblock does not however participate in cooling the liquid down. While that may be enough for most people, Thermaltake saw an opportunity to further boost water-cooling performance by designing a waterblock that takes part in cooling the liquid. The result of their effort is the Volcano Heat Exchanger. Just what is a heat exchanger and how much can it improve water-cooling performance? Read on and find out.
