Ultra Vortex HSF Review

Posted by Philipp Esselbach on: 11/08/2004 01:30 PM [ Print | 0 comment(s) ]

HTPCnews has posted a review on the Ultra Vortex HSF

In my last CoolerMaster Product review I had taken a look at the Hyper 6 CPU Cooler. This ended up being my favorite heatsink of all time but did cause some problems. The first was that the heatsink was waaaay to tall for most HTPC cases. This meant in order to fit the Hyper 6 in my LC03 I had to do a little dremel modification. But even with some modification this heatsink may not of fit in to your case. The next problem I ran in to, which was a much easier fix, was with the stock fan. The stock fan, while good, had an odd vibration to it at low speeds. The vibration really took away from the silent concept of the Hyper 6. Luckily I was able to use another 80mm fan and all was well.

This review takes a look at another cooling solution from CoolerMaster that hopefully will fit in to your HTPC case much easier. The CoolerMaster Ultra Vortex is a solution similar to the Zalman CNPS7000A-Cu but yet has quite a bit to separate it and offer some possible improvements. Will this product suck or blow? Ok well it is a cooler with a fan so I suppose it could do both...How will the Ultra Vortex stack up (yeah that's better)? Read on to find out.
