External hard drive enclosures have always been very handy accessories; they are portable and dependable, but not always very fast. Usually they are limited to USB 2.0 or FireWire transfer speed.
The NexStar 3 from Vantec looks to remedy that, with eSATA support. This allows the drive to be just as portable as before, but when connected to a system with an external SATA bracket, it is able to run at its full potential. At the same time, it works as a standard USB 2.0 drive, for use on systems without an eSATA port.
