Microsoft has released Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows 8

Microsoft Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows 8 provides the core tools that are required to build compelling, innovative Windows Metro style apps.

5400 RPM hard drive
DirectX 9-capable video card running at 1024 x 768 or higher display resolution
