How to remove GRUB loader!?
Posted by Alec§taar I am going to go with what AndyFair stated too, because I agree: Use the Recovery Console & do the FixMBR commandline... & not the DOS one. Why? Well, because this is about Windows NT-based Operating Systems, & the use of another Operating System's disk mgt. tools MIGHT NOT be the best idea here... especially DOS, & if the initial poster uses NTFS (which is exclusive to NT-based Operating Systems, whereas DOS only had Fat-16). * GRUB loader, I've never heard of it... Is this a LINUX thing? I ask that, because MAYBE in this case with this tool, cybersam's right about using DOS tools in that regard though! However, it yells to me "watch it" for the reasons I state above. (BOTTOM LINE - IS Anyone here REALLY familiar with this "GRUB" tool & its mechanics? I am not... & we need someone who is I think!) APK P.S.=> Additionally, once FixMBR Recovery Console command is used? Once you reboot, go to your BIOS & enable "Boot Sector Virus Protection" IF your BIOS has that option. Most modern ones do, & this should stop anything from undoing FixMBR's actions, even GRUB (wish I knew more about it, I don't use it, so have to take guesses on how to stop it)... apk [Edited by Alec§taar on 2004-09-11 09:40:20] |
