Windows Update - Error 0x80240020 HELP
Posted by Wilhelmus If Cormac's suggestion does not work, try these: 1)-- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910341/en-us, "Section B: Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP", Step 2. 2)-- Do you have "Client of Microsoft Networks" installed? Control Panel->Network Connections (classic) / Network and Internet Connections (nonclassic). Right Local Area Network and select Properties. One site mentioned this. 3)-- Reinstall the activex component. 1. Browse to C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files. Locate WUWebControl Class, rightclick it and select Delete. Answer yes. 2. Start->Run: Type cmd Now type to prompt: net stop wuauserv Leave the prompt screen open. 3. Browse to C:\WINDOWS. Locate "SoftwareDistribution" folder and delete it. 4. Back on the prompt screen. Type: net start wuauserv Then: exit 5. Start IE and Windows Update, it should ask to install it (during scan). |
