problem with Resident evil 1 on xp

well,

when i put the cd into the cd-rom and the auto-play begins, this message appears:

"The procedure entry point SMapLS_IP_EBP_8 could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll"

After the message, the install process begins but i cannot play because when i press "play" the above message appears again!!

what's the problem?

You may need to use the Program Compatibility Wizard (see Accessories) to install this old game.

you see, the problem is that the game cannot be install.
Here is what happens:

1)when the auto-run starts the below message comes up

"The procedure entry point SMapLS_IP_EBP_8 could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll"

2)then the install process starts but it never finishes because at 70% a message comes up again that says that there was an error

3)and that's all...
