Fallout 2 can't run on my Win XP. The compatibility mode is useless.

Fallout 2 is installed but when I want to play, it indicates me that Fallout 2 won't run without the CD. However, the CD is in!!

Is it the original CD? As far as I know all Fallout 2 has is the CD check. No other copy protection. So if your CD is an unoriginal copy it could be corrupted. Try a NO CD ***** on it.

I can't install the game on XP. If I click 'Install' on the autorun menu, the res switches and I get a black screen. After a few seconds it switches back to the desktop with the normal resolution.
Same if I click the setup.exe on the CD also. Tried running the setup.exe in Compatibility Mode but nothing works. Using SP2 if it makes any significance.
