I totally disabled ActiveX in "Internet Options" but now whenever a site tries to use ActiveX, I get this prompt that says "Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly."

Anyone know how to ditch this pop up message? I get it all the time (even on non-dagerous sites, including these forums) & it's really annoying.

FYI,
#1 I want to use Internet Explorer, not Opera, not Netscape (lol), or anything else.

#2 I have n00bs in this house. If they got prompted with a "HIT OK OR YOUR COMPUTER WILL BLOW UP!!!!" message, they'd hit okay & next thing you know, spyware galore is installed - screw that.

This is a good question.

I have to use a third party app to do so.

Not to troll here, but if you don't use ActiveX, you should really at least *try* either Mozilla or Mozilla Firefox, I think you'll be impressed.

Just try it for a few days...

I want to use IE...just hate those dialogs..

P.S.=> Yes, I use other browsers like Opera 7.54 or FireFox/Mozilla stuff, but it WOULD be nice to turn those DUMB nags off in IE too, I cannot STAND them! Sure, MS lets you turn stuff off, but then puts out those DUMB-A$$ nags if you do... so, what is the point of turning them off period if you just get nags? I really don't understand WHAT they were thinking there. I could see doing it ONCE, & then once you are aware of the stuff being off (as if you weren't already) it would not nag again... but NO, they had to have it nag constantly if you turned off ActiveX or active scripting of any kind! apk

Not w/out hacking either:

1.) The IE executeable file (which I doubt it's actually in here, but might be)

OR

2.) Hacking it out of one of the .DLL files that make up a TON of what Internet Explorer really is & can do!



(I feel your pain man, read my post! I am not with them either & the nags... what is the point of turning off stuff like scriptings & ActiveX in IE if all it will do is nag you to death?)

Well I do have a solution to this problem, but it is a bit advanced.

You should be very careful when modifying your files though, but if u really want to get rid of that prompt thats the way.
