Hi i'm running a P4 2.4ghz on an Asus P4s8x-x mobo..I'm trying to install xp pro edition on a Seagate ultra-ata 160Gb hdd which is barely new with only one previous xp install..
the problem is when i run the xp setup cd and it starts loading the files, it stops loading when saying "setup is loading files (dynamic volume support (dmboot))"..I searched already for the same problem over the net and any possible way to solve it but only found the situation when it appears an error message reporting to the dmboot.sys file..which is not my case since i dont even get an error message..I'm really stuck here!!
I already tryed running the xp setup on DOS (i386/winnt) and managed to copy the files to the hdd but i still have the same problem since i cant get passed the loading files part..
Any help would be great
thankx in advance

I doubt this will help but when I had that problem it turned out to be my USB printer that has slots for SD cards and such. As soon as I turned off my printer (it happened to be on) then I could install no problem.
It seems windows XP did not like to see any Removable media slots as it would try to install XP there!
Disconnect any externals ones if you have them and give it another go.
