15-Way AMD/NVIDIA Graphics Card Comparison For 4K Linux Gaming

Being in the middle of working on Linux reviews for the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti and AMD Radeon R9 Fury, there's been a lot of fresh graphics processor benchmarks running this week at Phoronix. As the first of these updated large Linux comparisons on the very latest public drivers, here is a 15-way NVIDIA GeForce and AMD Radeon graphics card comparison when running various Linux games with a 4K resolution.

Besides serving as some fresh Linux 4K gaming performance results on the newest AMD/NVIDIA drivers, this is also our first comparison featuring the GeForce GTX 980 Ti now that the review sample arrived courtesy of NVIDIA. The first of the Radeon R9 Fury graphics card results under Linux with the Catalyst driver will be published next week as outlined yesterday. The drivers being used in this latest Linux GPU comparison is Catalyst 15.7 on the AMD side and NVIDIA 352.21 on the green side.

AKRACING AK-6014 Black/Blue Gaming Chair Review

It’s dark you’re running down a corridor and your senses are at their peak. You can hear every little sound, every movement you make is precise and you can feel the slightest tremor if someone approaches you from any side. You’re on a roll, 27 head shots, 43 kills without a single respawn, just 7 more and you will beat your all-time best. You have you next victim in your sites and suddenly you feel a rush of pain creep up your legs which doesn’t stop until it runs up your neck. You quickly move your hand off your mouse to massage the pain and realize that you’re back in the spawn.

Why is it that we spend our money on the best monitors, keyboards, mice and headsets but skimp on our comfort when it comes to what we sit on for numerous hours of gaming and computing? Years ago many of us would build a system and add a monitor as a last thought, luckily most of us are now choosing a monitor and building a system that will compliment it. (Or at least that’s the way it should be) Even with all that change we still neglect the one thing that is most important and that is seating. Wouldn’t it be beneficial to build a gaming ecosystem rather than just a gaming system?

Azio MKG1 Mechanical Keyboard Review

Having used Azio's MKG1 Mechanical Keyboard, I must say I really like it. The keyboard has its ups and downs, but I am actually quite hooked on it. I plugged in my old keyboard and did some comparing between the two just for grins, and it's night and day. One thing that I can mention is the sheer feel of the keyboard. While in the middle of a rant, the keys move quite well and with the gentlest of touch the key stroke is registered and appears. That is something I do not get with the membrane keyboard I used all these years, so now that I'm used to the MKG1, I find myself missing keys when go to something else. Being a now-converted mechanical keyboard user has brought me to enjoy it based on many factors that greatly outweigh its downfalls, like the noise. And the MKG1 in particular has many positives.

BenQ’s latest mid-range monitor is a 27-inch 1440p screen with an IPS flicker-free panel. It’s suitable for most general tasks, with excellent picture quality and a bright screen. It should be fine for working at the computer, watching movies and web browsing. And with a low response time of 4ms, it’s great for gaming too. Along with a good feature set and excellent colour reproduction, the GW2765HT looks like a worthy investment, considering its relatively attractive price.

Phanteks Enthoo Pro M Case Review

The Phanteks Enthoo Pro M has a few similarities from both the Enthoo Pro and the Evolv ATX case but in a mid-tower form factor. The front of the case includes just one 5.25″ ODD bay and a large air intake similar to the Enthoo Pro. The interior frame looks almost identical to the Evolv ATX due to the 2.5″ drop-N-lock mounts and the lack of interior HDD bays. Built specifically to target water cooling enthusiasts, the top and front of the case can support up to a 360mm or a 280mm radiator with plenty of space for a large reservoir.

Raidmax Vampire RX-1000GH 1000W Power Supply Unit Review

Compared to even just 10 years ago the market today is literally overflowing with PC hardware components and peripherals suitable both for regular consumers (gamers, overclockers, enthusiasts and casual users) and professionals (enterprise users included). Unfortunately due to their target audience high-end components are not always affordable by everyone and that goes double for power supplies since they are considered to be the heart of every PC. We have seen several "affordable" high-end models in the past by many manufacturers but in the end there's always room for more such products aimed at people on a tight budget. Raidmax is mostly known for their towers but they've also ventured into the PSU market and today we're going to test their latest Vampire RX-1000GH 1000W PSU to see whether or not this was the right move by them.

Raidmax was founded in 1988 with the mission of providing the best solutions: specifically, meeting your requirements for innovative designs, excellent performance and quality products. In early 2003, Raidmax was the first to debut the design "Scorpio": an alien eye shape on its general front panel. At the time, it was the best ever hit in the gaming case business and almost every factory had owned at least one similar design back in China. Two years later, Raidmax released another cutting-edge design, Samurai, and people who had seen the case itself instantly fell in love. After numerous global feedback, Raidmax is known all over the world. It is said our company is not only a case designer but also the perfect budget keeper. You can simply spend a little but you receive higher quality than you expect. It has been more than 10 years since Raidmax began its work on its unique product lines and market position. The name of Raidmax is synonymous to gaming design and budget cases. In the United States, Raidmax is considered to be the best second tier brand; in Asia, it is said that only Raidmax can offer the budget cases with great designs; in Europe, with almost no brand management, Raidmax' followers are still showing their loyal support in many ways.

With the Vampire RX-1000GH Raidmax introduced a 80 Plus Gold certified, semi-modular power supply unit that features two strong +12V 60A rails capable of supplying up to 97% (972W to be exact) of the units total output, a total of eight PCI-E power cables (6+2 pin) for use with 4 high-end graphics cards, temperature controlled 135mm intake fan, over voltage protection for your USB ports and a good set of electrical protections such as SCP (Short circuit protection), OVP (Over voltage protection), UVP (Under voltage protection) and OPP (Over power protection). On paper the Vampire RX-1000GH sure looks like it has everything going for it so let's dig deeper and see what it really has to offer.

Synology DS414slim & QNAP TS-453mini NAS Review: Convenient storage, tiny footprint

NAS servers provide a quick, easy and secure means of backing up important data. Compared to a dedicated server, a desktop NAS is considerably more compact, especially two-bay and four-bay models like the QNAP TS-453mini and Synology DS414slim on hand today. The two aren't really direct competitors, so this isn't a straight up Synology vs. QNAP battle, but rather a look at each company's approach to developing compact NAS solutions.
