Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866MHz DDR3 Memory Kit Review @ HiTech Legion

Excellent value and overclockability were two factors that made Corsair’s Vengeance memory kits very popular amongst gamers when it first hit the market. Corsair is synonymous with quality RAM modules and their Dominator line is a popular choice for enthusiasts but it is out of reach price-wise for most mainstream users. Meanwhile, Corsair's Vengeance memory modules were a nice alternative to their basic XMS3 modules and offered some overclocking headroom at a mainstream price point. Coinciding with the release of Intel’s 4th generation Core processors, Corsair is introducing a new Vengeance Pro series of memory kits which will be available in 1600MHz all the way to 2933MHz speeds.

The Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866MHz memory kit is optimized for use with the Intel Haswell processor and is also compatible with Ivy Bridge and Sandy Bridge platforms. The Vengeance Pro memory kit updates the heat spreader design of the original Vengeance memory modules slightly with the addition of a removable accent clip. These Vengeance Pro accent clip serve as additional structural support while handling and installing modules onto the mainboard. Measuring 135mm x 44mm x 6mm, the Corsair Vengeance Pro memory modules are available in a variety of colors including gold, silver, blue, red and black. As with all current Corsair memory modules, the Corsair Vengeance Pro series is XMP 1.3 compatible and comes with a limited lifetime warranty.

PCMark 8 Review @ OCC

As mentioned on the previous page, I ran into an issue when running PCMark 8. One of the Web Browsing tests repeatedly gets stuck whenever it is run for the second time during a benchmark. This prevents me from completing the standard benchmarks that use it, as they all run three passes to get consistent results. Futuremark is aware of the issue as it has been reported by multiple people running Windows 7. I am confident the developers will be able to find and fix it.

The HP Slate 7 is a surprisingly speedy tablet with an enticing price tag, but it's competing with tablets like the Google Nexus 7 which features a better display, faster performance, and more up-to-date software. AMD reveals base clock, power rating for 5GHz CPU @ The Tech Report

On Tuesday, AMD introduced its new FX-9000-series processors. The company quoted their peak Turbo speeds (5GHz for the FX-9590, 4.7GHz for the FX-9370) and a rough time frame for availability ("this summer"), but it revealed little else. We were left wondering about base clocks, power envelopes, and potential retail availability.

Synology DS1812+ 8-bay SMB / SOHO NAS Review @ Anandtech

Synology recently refreshed their 8-bay SMB / SOHO NAS lineup with the DS1813+. Based on the same platform as the DS1812+ (Atom D2700), it added two extra network ports. However, due to the similarity in the underlying platform, the performance in most cases can be expected to be similar to last year's version, the DS1812+.

A number of Intel Atom D27xx-based NAS systems have been evaluated in our labs, even though we formally reviewed only one earlier this year, the LaCie 5big NAS Pro. The Thecus N4800 has made its appearance in a some benchmarks presented in our SMB / SOHO NAS testbed article. We are waiting for a firmware update to complete our 5big NAS Pro review, but, in the meanwhile, we have results from our evaluation of the Synology DS1812+ which was sent to our labs last year. In our experience, Synology manages to tick all the right boxes for the perfect consumer NAS (except for the pricing factor). Does the DS1812+ carry things forward, or do we have something to complain about? Read on to find out.
