To play DVD movies, this drive must be the only drive connected to the USB bus for the sake of stability. MPEG-2, the video format used to compress DVD movies, must travel without delays through a USB 1.1 wire. Playing movies on a saturated bus risks ´hiccups´. As a note, MPEG-2 playback can take up to 6Mbps of bandwidth.
