AMD Radeon Vega Frontier: GTX 1070 level gaming perf

AMD's new Radeon Vega Frontier Edition is now available, with some reviewers getting their hands-on the card and putting it through its paces. Radeon Vega Frontier is a professional card and not a gaming card, with AMD preparing the Radeon RX Vega for gamers and consumers, due out in around a month from now. Until then, PC Perspective has reviewed and thrown the Radeon Vega FE into some light, heavy, and gaming tests - but how did it perform? Early leaks of performance teased GeForce GTX 1070 levels of performance, and while most people called them out as fake... it appears they were right. Vega FE is around GTX 1070/1080 performance, even with its super-fast 16GB HBM2 memory, but this isn't the gaming variant, so more performance could be squeezed from RX Vega before it arrives.

Crucial Ballistix Elite DDR4-3200 (BLE2C16G4D32AEEA) Review

Benching Ryzen 7 with top-spec memory. Crucial is upping its enthusiast memory game with renewed focus on the Ballistix Elite line of RAM. Usually one to be conservative, the memory giant now retails heatspreader-clad modules at speeds of up to 3,466MHz. So whilst not in the same frequency league as some, Crucial is no longer inhibited by speeds mandated by the memory standard known as Jedec.

With the recent enthusiast resurgence of AMD via the Ryzen line of multi-core processors, Crucial is particularly keen on highlighting that its latest modules are a great fit for the platform. Jeremy Mortenson, Ballistix Product Manager, has commented that “AMD Ryzen is a great step for the gaming market and Ballistix is looking forward to supporting gamers with our compatible components to give the best gaming experience possible. The CPU, GPU, and RAM all work together to create your experience in game and the more resources that each of them have, the better the experience. The cost to build a new system can add up quickly, but a Ballistix memory upgrade can provide the performance needed to feed your rig without draining your gaming budget.”

Bold words for the nascent platform then, and Crucial duly obliges by offering modules in 4GB, 8GB or 16GB capacities, with the user free to pick the number suited to a particular setup. For desktop Ryzen running in a dual-channel configuration that's two (or four) sticks of your choice. At the time of writing, there are 27 offerings, though the largest-capacity pack tops out at a speed of 3,200MHz.

Eizo EV2456 review: classic format with a new look

The majority of monitors have a 16:9 aspect ratio. However there are still a relatively small, but significant amount of monitors out there on the market with a 16:10 aspect ratio. These are mainly aimed at the business market, however there are also some consumers that swear by more vertical space. Eizo has therefore released the EV2456, successor to the EV2455. We were quite enthusiastic about the latter, so we're curious to see how its successor fares.

Ethereum Mining GPU Benchmark And Optimization Guide

Cryptocurrency mining is a big buzz topic in technology these days. And why not? Utilizing your computer to digitally mine what seems like free money only begs the question, "where do I sign up?" Your machine will actually be "mining" or processing transactions for a decentralized currency, the hottest variant of which is called Ethereum.

However, the cost of mining is far from free in this modern day gold rush. Hardware costs and energy consumption represent real financial commitment. Regardless, if you build your own systems or are PC enthusiast, there’s a good chance you have the spare parts lying around to slap a mining rig together and get cracking...

Razer Hammerhead BT

When it comes to audio, Razer has actually been in the business for a long time now. Going all the way back to their Barracuda HP-1 headset back in 2006. Then in 2009 they got into the mobile market with the Razer Moray so they aren’t new to the market, they have actually continued to bring out new earbuds a few times now but the new Razer Hammerhead BT’s are their first wireless earbuds. In the past, Razer has stayed within their gaming market but these push out into the mobile market more. They peaked my interest and with summer being a great time to test a set of mobile headphones I got the Hammerhead BT’s in and have been toying around with them. Today let’s check them out and see what they are all about.
