2CPU has posted a review on the AOpen DVD-1640 Pro

A couple of months ago, AOpen was kind enough to send me their latest and greatest CDRW and DVD drive, the CRW1232A and DVD-1640 Pro respectively. After clearing a couple of great motherboards out of my personal queue, I was able to take the time to write up the DVD-1640 Pro.

Let´s talk about the mechanism itself. As you´re sliding a cd or DVD in the drive it doesn´t grab it prematurely (as some drives have a tendency of doing), you have to apply enough pressure to have it about 3/4´s of the way in the drive before the mechanism pulls it the remainder of the way. What about ejecting? It spits the afformentioned cd or DVD exactly 1/2 way out. Everytime.

Not so hot at Digital Audio Extraction, but a decent all-around drive. If you´re in the market for a DVD drive, this might interest you.
