BIOSTAR TPower X58 Review
InsideHW.com has reviewed BIOSTAR TPower X58 motherboard

BIOSTAR motherboards are known for their price/performance ratio thanks to which BIOSTAR motherboards won InsideHW Best Buy Award few times. This result BIOSTAR achieved by using second best chipset, that can be found on the market at the moment (P965, P35, P45), on their motherboards instead of using the best and the priciest (X965, X35, X45). This time BIOSTAR applied different approach and they built new motherboard on eXtreme chipset. Of course we are talking about advanced X58 chipset. How well did BIOSTAR rise to the challenge you can find out if you continue reading our review.

MSI X58 Eclipse SLI Core i7 Motherboard Review
TweakTown posted a review on the MSI X58 Eclipse SLI Core i7 Motherboard

Core i7 is Intel’s first CPU to finally integrate a memory controller directly into the CPU and because of this a whole new socket and motherboard architecture needed to be designed. All previous Intel chipsets were now useless to run the brand new CPU since it now has an external FSB but communicates with the chipset through a whole new interface called Quick Path Interconnect (or QPI). Because of this Intel has released its X58 chipset aimed at the top end of the spectrum.

We have already seen both GIGABYTE and ASUS put their offerings on the table; today we have yet another high-end board from a very highly regarded company, MSI. On the chopping blocks today is the MSI X58 Eclipse SLI. This board promises to have it all and then some. But as expected, a board of this calibre certainly comes at a price. You can currently purchase it from Newegg at 349.99 USD. But is it worth every penny? Let’s take a look and see.

After a somewhat lengthy hiatus of new product releases in the world of CPU cooling, Thermaltake has recently returned with a vengeance, launching several new products. Today we'll be examining the BigTyp 14Pro, the successor to their venerated Big Typhoon cooler. It has been about three years since the Big Typhoon hit the market and made quite a splash, but much can change in this industry in three years, so let's find out if the BigTyp 14Pro can live up to its lineage.

Kingwin EZ-2535W EZ-Dock Docking Station Review
OCC has published a new review on the Kingwin EZ-2535W EZ-Dock Docking Station

The Kingwin EZ-Dock makes transferring data to and from both 2.5" and 3.5" hard drives as easy as possible. There are both USB and eSATA connections available to you, which is great since eSATA is a lot faster and becoming a standard now for external data. Performance-wise, the Kingwin EZ-Dock was on par with the Thermaltake BlackX via the USB connection, however the presence of the eSATA allowed for faster transfer speeds. While not as fast as being connected to the internal SATA port, the eSATA speeds were a nice jump from the crawl of the USB speeds.

Chieftec AEGIS Full Tower Review
OCC has published a new review on the Chieftec AEGIS Full Tower

Pretty much all cases out there have at least one up side to them; they hold all your components. Luckily, the Chieftec AEGIS does that well. While it does add several additional perks, like the ability to easily swap hard drives and expansion cards with the screwless design, or the ability to hold CDs or DVDs on the front of the chassis behind one of the swing-open doors, it is definitely not a case I would mark as an enthusiast case, at least not as delivered. The lack of pre-installed fans and the lack of several features seen on other cases, such as bottom-mounted PSU slots or removable motherboard trays, really leaves this case in the workstation or entry-level market. Another market this case might fit into, however, is the extreme modding market.

SilverStone RV01 Raven Case Review
Hardware Canucks posted their review of SilverStone's innovative new case: the RV01 Raven.

Unlike conventional wisdom, which has the motherboard laid out in such a way that the PCI slots and I/O connectors are located at the back of the case, the Raven has the whole entire "back" of the case repositioned so it is literally the TOP. Heat does rise so we can see some merit to this design scheme but we can also see a lot of potential negatives as well. In the end we have a feeling the success or failure of this case hinges on how well the engineers over at SilverStone have done their jobs and not only anticipated these hazards but actually designed workarounds to either minimize or remove said hazards.

Raidsonic's Icy Box IB-NAS4220-B network storage device
bit-tech published a review of Raidsonic's Icy Box IB-NAS4220-B network storage device

For SOHO or personal and family use, the Icy Box IB-NAS4220-B is pretty nippy and plentiful for the majority of people who are after just a plain two disk NAS. With 2TB hard disks just released, having a potential of 4TB at your disposal should be enough for all but the most prolific porn data collectors. It's a bit noisy, so in a particularly quiet room you'll certainly notice it is on, but it's no better or worse than the alternatives and it still looks great, works great and for the price we'd certainly opt to get one.

When buying a power supply, the efficiency of the unit is an increasingly prominent factor due to the threats of global warming etc, it's therefore important for us to do our part in helping to save the planet. One way we can simply help is by purchasing an '80 Plus' PSU. What is an '80 Plus' power supply though you wonder? A unit certified as this is 80% or greater efficient at 20%, 50% and 100% of rated load with a true power factor of 0.9 or greater. Cooler Master has stepped up the game though. Instead of being just the bare minimum to classify as 80 Plus (80%), the UCP 900W however is rated at 88% more efficient making it seem very promising. Let's take a closer look.

Slingbox Pro-HD and SlingLink Turbo Review
TechSpot posted Slingbox Pro-HD and SlingLink Turbo review

Some of the best inventions are envisioned when ordinary people find a void in the marketplace and aim to exploit it. The Slingbox concept was developed by two sports fans in 2002 when they were away from home and missed some key MBL baseball games. Three years later, the Slingbox became a reality.

The Slingbox is a placeshifting/media extending device, meaning that it allows you to listen or watch media remotely over the Internet. The latest Slingbox model is eloquently called the Slingbox Pro-HD, as its name suggests, the Pro-HD offers high-definition streaming to Windows-based systems out of the box as well as other notable improvements over the previous Slingbox Pro.

We will also be taking a look at the optional SlingLink Turbo 1-Port accessory which lets you extend your wired connectivity at home using power lines.

Overclockers Online posted a review on the Thermaltake V9 Black Edition

I'll admit I'm a junky for full tower cases as I love all the room they have to offer. With that being said I was quite pleased overall with the mid tower V9 Black Edition. I never felt cramped or had to contort my hands while assembling the PC. The twin 230mm fans do a great job of keeping things cool and the front 120mm also sports a red LED. The black powder coating really set off the interior and makes for a very attractive package.

Ricoh R10 Digital Camera Review
ITreviewed posted a review on the Ricoh R10 Digital Camera

Ricoh's R10 is an extremely rugged digital camera that makes shooting stills and videos relatively painless. It might look like it has been designed by a 5-year-old, but it takes well-balanced shots that are crisp and colourful thanks to the 10-Megaxpixel lens. Sure they're not up scratch for advanced photographers, but general consumers should be satisfied. A 7.1x optical wide-angle zoom is better than most in this price range too, as is the level of in-camera editing controls. There's not much in the way of advanced exposure controls, but the R10 is very much targeted a beginners and those who just want to point and shoot. It's weighty enough to feel like a 'proper' camera too. Ricoh's not about to dethrone Canon or Nikon (or Olympus, Panasonic or Sony), but with the R10 the company has produced a camera that's good value for money.

I still remember when having a flash drive with only 256 megabytes was pretty darn impressive, but man alive, has the industry advanced since those days. Continuing with the trend of massive memory in a remarkably small package is the Kingston DataTraveler 150 USB flash drive, shown here in its 32GB incarnation. For people who really want to push the envelope, Kingston also sells this drive with a whopping 64GB of flash memory. Considering that some older laptops only have 80GB hard drives, I’d say that’s pretty impressive.

ITreviewed posted a review on the Dell XPS 730x Gaming Desktop

Dell has got its game on once more (it does so every year or so) with the XPS 730x. Replacing the XPS 730, the highlight of the machine is that it features Intel's spiffy new Core i7 processor, making the XPS 730x one the world's most extreme and overclockable gaming desktops. The downside is that this puppy will cost you at least 2899 - and that's the basic specification! All this hardware guarantees you premium out-of-the-box performance =96 the XPS 730x is the fastest machine we've ever tested. Not only does the XPS 730x give you amazing frame rates when used in SLI or CrossFire, but the stunning design and user-friendly gaming features help to elevate it above other machine. Sadly it is expensive compared to some Core i7 systems from other manufacturers, but if your pockets are deep and you want a powerhouse, the XPS 730x is a fantastic machine.

Evercool Buffalo Review
OCC has published a new review on the Evercool Buffalo

The temperatures that the two heatpipes were able to yield were not quite as good as others out on the market. However, it did do what it said it would, and that was to cool the processor and did it better than the stock Intel cooler was able to do. The multi-platform design of the cooler makes it more valuable for people who may switch this cooler between a Socket 775 rig and an AM2 setup. There was however, only the Socket 775 mounting hardware included in the package. I would suggest this cooler to anyone who is looking to improve the temperatures generated with the stock heatsink/fan setup or if they are going to do a little bit of overclocking and are wanting to use a smaller case such as a Mid tower or HTPC case.

AKAI ADPF10x LCD Digital Picture Frame - Video Review
TweakTown posted a video review on the AKAI ADPF10x LCD Digital Picture Frame

AKAI's ADPF10x 4:3 picture frame is not only that - it also has video playback support with sound through its two built-in 2 watt speakers. It is able to playback MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG3 and MPEG4 video codecs on its screen, which is capable of a workable but less than stellar 640 x 480 resolution. It will also playback your MP3s, but no other audio formats. As far as image support goes, only JPEG is supported.

On this side of the frame is the area where the unit gets it storage and connectivity. From the top we have a Compact Flash port, then it's a USB "host" port for directly connecting USB pen drives. After that we have a mini USB "device" port for connecting the frame up to your PC to access images, video and sound files from memory cards that are installed in the frame flash ports. After that we have a multi-use port that accepts XD, Memory Stick, MMC and SD memory cards. We have no exact details on which memory cards are supported, but we did use a 16GB SD card in our testing and it worked without any problems.

Benchmark Reviews posted a review on the Corsair Dominator 6GB DD3 Memory Kit TR3X6G1600C8D

Today, we at Benchmark Reviews will be presenting our findings for the Corsair TR3X6G1600C8D memory kit which is a 6144 MB kit of 1600 MHz DDR3 SDRAM DIMMs based upon Corsair's high performance Dominator family of memory. This kit has been verified to operate at 1600MHz at latencies of 8-8-8-24 at 1.65V VDIMM. These statistics put the TR3X6G1600C8D in the mid-range of DDR3 performance statistically, but as we're all aware a number of memory modules on the market can solidly produce much higher performance figures than their ratings might allude. We plan to use a variety of tests both at stock and overclocked performance speeds to give our readers a solid overview of just what this kit has to offer.

Cooler Master V10 200+W Hybrid T.E.C. Cooler Review
TweakTown checked out the Cooler Master V10 200+W Hybrid T.E.C. Cooler

Today we are looking at the Cooler Master V10 200+W Hybrid T.E.C. cooler, that’s right, I said T.E.C. - Cooler Master has designed the V10 Hybrid to be partially cooled with a peltier cooling device installed to the side of the base of this cooler for additional cooling potential. The irregular shape and design of the V10 is due to Cooler Master adding the horizontally placed section to also cool the RAM. Both the horizontal and vertical fins are cooled with 120mm fans. Judging from what we have recently seen with Cooler Master, it only stands to reason that the V10 with Hybrid T.E.C. should be quite the performer.

Being so highly anticipated by me personally and the premium packaging that surrounds the V10, I can’t wait any longer to get to the bottom of how well this additional T.E.C. technology works on an air cooling solution. Let’s open it up and get to the chilling facts of this adaptation of T.E.C. and air cooling.
