StarTech 2-port PCI Express USB 3.0 controller review
Elite Bastards posted a review on the StarTech 2-port PCI Express USB 3.0 controller

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the first thing we can see if just how diminutive this controller card is, fitting into the length you'd expect of a PCI Express 2.0 1x card perfectly, with the board supporting both PCI Express 2.0 and 1.1 while also serving to act as a half-height card when equipped with the correct mounting bracket.

At the heart of this device is the same NEC chip seen on most of the motherboards which have added USB 3.0 support to their specification, with this chip supporting two devices as per the specification of the card itself.

Additional power is required via a single four-pin Molex connector attached to the rear of the card - This allows the device to provide juice to powered USB devices, to the tune of 900 mA per port.

Kingston HyperX LoVo 1866MHz DDR3 4GB Memory Kit Review
Legit Reviews posted a review on the Kingston HyperX LoVo 1866MHz DDR3 4GB Memory Kit

Kingston Technology recently introduced the world's first ultra-low voltage DDR3 dual channel memory kit that operates with just 1.25 volts at 1600MHz. The new offering is part of the new Kingston 'LoVo' (low voltage) HyperX DDR3 High-Performance memory product line. Read on to see how the Kingston HyperX LoVo memory kit performs and see how much power it can save!

The Kingston HyperX LoVo memory kit was great to review as we learned a number of things during testing the memory kit. The first is that not all motherboards have DDR3 (vDIMM) voltage settings that go low enough to support memory kits like this. This is an easy fix by motherboard manufactures, but it will require a BIOS update in order to support super low voltages like 1.25V. The second thing that we learned is that memory voltages and memory clock frequencies play a serious role in power consumption! To be honest we never looked that close at power consumption at various clock frequencies when keeping the vDIMM and memory timings constant. It was an eye opener to how big of a power consumption difference we were seeing at the wall when going from just 1333MHz with 1.24V to 1600MHz with 1.24V...

Enermax Modu87+ 500W PSU Review
Vortez.co.uk posted a review on the Enermax Modu87+ 500W PSU

Enermax have been in the PSU industry for years now, and really made their name with the superb Galaxy range of PSUs which were considered to be the best PSUs around for what seemed like a lifetime. However, technology moves on and inevitably the Galaxy lost its crown to competitor products. Enermax had to fight back, so last year released their Revolution range of PSUs. Ranging from 850W to 1250W, they're ideal if you're building a nuclear reactor, but what about those amongst us that aren't completely bonkers?

That's where the Modu87+ and Pro87+ range of PSUs come in. They're designed to bring some of the engineering excellence found in the Revolution PSUs to mainstream users, with Modu87+ units ranging from 500W to 800W, whilst only 500W and 600W Pro87+ units are available. The Modu87+ and Pro87+ units are very similar, apart from the Modu87+'s use of Modular cabling, which can drastically reduce cable clutter, but obviously adds to the cost of the unit.

12GB Crucial DDR3 Memory Kit Review
Benchmark Reviews posted a review on the 12GB Crucial DDR3 Memory Kit

It's always better to have and not need, than to need and not have. This Golden Rule applies to computer system memory as much as the other aspects in life, and having more RAM than your PC needs can only help matters. Multimedia editors require large amounts of memory to keep their encoding tasks moving at top-speed, otherwise the PC's much slower storage drive is called into play. Crucial offers the power-user a guaranteed boost to system performance, with their triple-channel 12GB DDR3 memory kit. The Crucial CT3KIT51264BA1339 UDIMM kit consists of three 4GB DDR3 modules rated for 1333MHz CL9-9-9-25-1 each. In this article, Benchmark Reviews tests the high-density RAM kit against memory big and small, fast and slow.

The Sapphire Radeon 5550 Ultimate is a low-power, passively cooled, budget graphics card, marketed to consumers who may be interested in something for their HTPC or the occasional foray into some light gaming. It's almost the baby of the 5000 series Radeon cards, with the 5450 sitting one rung lower, but continues to attempt to offer good value for those people with a very moderate budget.

Thermaltake Frio Heatsink Review
Ninjalane has posted their review of the new tower style heatsink from Thermaltake called the Frio.

Dual fan towers have quickly become the aftermarket cooling standard for the PC. They are relatively compact, provide excellent surface area for cooling, and are limited only by the available room in your chassis and motherboard components. Of course performance is the key thing with aftermarket coolers and overall performance is a direct result of how well a company can combine everything together.

The DirectCompute 5.0 technology is going to allow you to use the card for CAD applications and give you better performance than using an integrated video solution. DVD and Blu-ray playback is also a big plus with this card if you are looking to build an HTPC, as it will allow you to use what ever format disc you wish to, only being limited to the drive that you have installed in the system.

StarTech USB 3.0 to SATA 2.5"/3.5" hard drive docking station review
Elite Bastards posted a review on the StarTech USB 3.0 to SATA 2.5"/3.5" hard drive docking station

At first glance StarTech's docking station almost looks more like a miniature paper shredder than its actual purpose, but a closer look allows you to clearly see just how the device operates.

At the top of the device we find a hole in which you can plug any 2.5" Serial ATA hard drive, with a larger flap that allows for 3.5" drives to be connected just as easily. With a drive in place, you can simply press the power button to switch the docking station on and off.

When you're finished working with a particular drive, it can be easily ejected via this button on the side of the docking station.
