Over the years many computer users have migrated away from desktop systems to laptops and netbooks as the price on portable machines has gone down. That doesn't mean there isn’t a market for desktops, it just means the desktop market has shrunk over the years.

Microsoft KIN One Review
TestFreaks posted a review on the Microsoft KIN One phone

Today for review I've got the Microsoft KIN One from Verizon Wireless, it'sa phone that has been talked about for quite some time and many people have been eagerly awaiting its launch. Is it all that? Yes and No honestly, overall I like it, but it's far from perfect, it has many issues that need to be addressed. The phone overall is unique, it's a very social centric phone, but being a social phone I would have to ask why there isn't an IM client built-in or a calendar. I found the camera to be lacking quite a bit, I expected a bit more from a 5MP camera, but it's not that good really. Read on to see a lot of pictures of the interface and learn more about the KIN One..

Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler Review
HardwareLook.com posted a review on the Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler

An amalgamation of both old and new is present in Noctua's latest offering to the processor cooling sector. Building on previous successes, namely the NH-U12P, the NH-D14 is characterised by two fin stacks and a dual-fan cooling configuration.

The new, seen with the inclusion of the of Noctua's largest fan to date: the 140mm NF-P14 FLX construction slotted between the independent fin stacks is combined with elements from past coolers by the thermal solutions manufacturer. The heatsink bares similarities to the NH-U12P in terms of the fin spacing and heatpipe layout whilst the push-pull fan design can be attributed to the SE1366 version of the same cooler.

These smaller flash chips have a smaller production cost, which will bring down the cost of the drives. Scythe Yasya SCYS-1000 CPU Cooler Review
TweakTown posted a review on the Scythe Yasya SCYS-1000 CPU Cooler

While the Mugen 2 was a bulky, rather unattractive and more industrial looking cooler, today we have a tower cooler with aluminum fins and copper heat pipes and Scythe even keeps the pre-cooler on board. But that is where the similarities end. The design, concepts and physics built into the latest sample are in a way something I have seen, such as offset fins, but this Trident Multi Layer Fin Structure is something completely new. Now, I have seen notches and cuts and curves, even closing off the sides to get better temperatures and fan air flow, but never implemented like this.

Scythe has done well with the cooler I previously tested and since it doesn’t make too good of business sense to release something worse, I am eager to see just what all this technical talk on the box is all about. Join me as I get my first look at some new designs and hopefully a cooler that can offer good numbers in our testing without breaking the bank. This new CPU cooler is called the Yasya, or it also goes by the number SCYS-1000 and from the MSRP I can say it meets one requirement. Let’s have a look at what the Yasya from Scythe brings to the table.

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition CPU review
Elite Bastards posted AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition CPU review

This new six-core "Thuban" codenamed die weights in with an estimated count of over 900 million transistors compared to the 758 million transistors of "Deneb", most of which is concerned with packing in those two additional CPU cores over its predecessor, which has been achieved by increasing the overall die size to 346mm² against 258mm² for earlier Phenom II parts. Despite those additional cores, Thuban still sports the same shared 6MB of level 3 cache as Phenom II X4 CPUs, although it does receive an additional 1MB of level 2 cache to give it 3MB in total (although this still totals 512KB per core). All of this is fitted into AMD's existing AM3 socket, complete with DDR2 and DDR3 memory support, and with a TDP of 125 Watts.

The only other big change for the Phenom II X6 over previous Phenom II CPUs is the introduction of AMD's answer to Intel's "Turbo Mode", known as "Turbo Core". Although its mechanics are somewhat simpler than Intel's own turbo mode, the basic concept is the same, allowing the Phenom II X6 to boost the clock speed of a core from its standard 3.2GHz to a peak of 3.6GHz while remaining within its TDP by independently increasing the clock speeds of some cores (up to three at any one time) while others are dormant and not doing any work, thus boosting performance in scenarios where not all six cores are busy.

CPU Round-up: Sub-$100 Intel and AMD Processors Tested
TechSpot posted a CPU roundup of sub-$100 Intel and AMD Processors

Recently we compared a dozen AMD and Intel desktop processors priced between $100 and $200 in order to determine which offered the best performance vs. price ratio for mainstream computer users. But then we asked ourselves, what can be had for less than $100?

Today we will be focusing on almost a dozen AMD and Intel chips priced below this mark. Something to be aware of is that this article features just a single LGA1156 processor from Intel, while the rest are designed to run on the company's dying LGA775 platform. On the other hand we have five AMD processors, all of which support the latest AM3 socket and are backwards compatible with older AM2/AM2+ motherboards.

This time around AMD has a significant advantage over Intel in terms of flexibility, but the question remains: how do they compare performance-wise? Before we throw all these processors on our test bed to find out, we will check out each model and give a brief explaination on why we chose them for our round-up.

Corsair Flash Voyager GTR 128GB, 32GB Flash Drive Review
Everything USB posted a review on the Corsair Flash Voyager GTR Flash Drive

Flash drive capacities are growing larger and larger at 32GB and beyond, but with write speeds limited to around 17MB/s or less, you could be spending quite some time in order to fill a drive to capacity. Enter Corsair's Flash Voyager GTR series, billed as the fastest flash drives we'll likely ever see before USB 3.0 becomes the norm. With advertised write speeds of 28MB/s or greater, could these new drives actually put an end to all of the silent profanities? Can we hold Corsair to their numbers? Corsair H50 CPU Cooler Review
Vortez.co.uk posted Corsair H50 CPU Cooler Review

The Hydro 50 is the result of a joint effort between Asetek and Corsair. Those who have previously experienced building custom water cooling setups will no doubt be familiar with Asetek's offering, They have also been behind more exotic products such as VapoChill in the past and as such, they have a ich heritage of delivering enthusiast level products. However, since their focus was shifted to the OEM market, their name became less well known amongst casual users. In order to leverage their expertise to the consumer market, they teamed up with Corsair who already had a very strong global channel and loyal consumer base. Some could say it was a marriage made in heaven! Combining Asetek's latest cold plate technology and radiator with Corsair's brand name, we now have the H50. Corsair's attention to detail and demand for best performance also means that further improvements were made to the cooler to exceed expectations. This is hopefully what we will see today.

Noctua NH-D14 Heatsink Review
Viperlair posted a review on the Noctua NH-D14 Heatsink

This is one of the best air coolers I've had the pleasure of using. The included package, like the Noctua NH-D14 itself is large and provides you with pretty much everything you could possibly need. The SecuFirm2 mounting setup allows you to use this cooler with plenty of different socket setups, and it works really well. It's easy to install, although I did find that even with my Cosmos S, I had to install the cooler by removing the motherboard (I've cut the motherboard tray to allow for in place installation of coolers); the Noctua NH-D14 was just too large and unwieldy to install with the motherboard in the case. Certain motherboard cooling setups, like those found on some MSI boards may limit your installation options although we certainly had no problem installing the Noctua NH-D14 on the two boards we tried including an MSI board. We did however have to swap our OCZ Reaper ram with it's heat-pipe cooling setup to some smaller/shorter Patriot ram to clear the 120mm fan.
