SilverStone Sugo SG06 Case Review
Hardware Secrets posted SilverStone Sugo SG06 Case Review

SilverStone Sugo SG06, together with its brother SG05, is one of the smallest computer cases we've ever seen and yet it supports video cards up to 9" (22.8 cm) in length, making it a terrific case for building a very small but powerful PC. To shrink its size SilverStone decided to use a small CFX power supply, which comes with the product, and support only a slim optical drive, i.e. an optical drive originally targeted to laptops. The main difference between SG06 and SG05 is the material used on the front panel. On SG06 the front panel is made of aluminum, while on SG05 it is made of plastic. Let's see what you can expect from SG06.

Half a year later, AMD has released a new ultra high end product that promises to pick up where the V8700 left off. The FirePro V8750 sports the same RV770 GPU and 800 shader processors, but offers improved memory performance by way of 2GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 900MHz, which offers 115GB/s of peak bandwidth. Xigmatek Thor's Hammer HDT-S126384 Review
OCC has published a new review on the Xigmatek Thor's Hammer HDT-S126384

Throughout the review I was really rooting for this heatsink. I was originally optimistic at the idea of having a passive heatsink and consequently my optimism was definitely not misplaced. Thor's Hammer turned out to be everything I expected of it and it really took the cake in terms of performance compared to any other heatsink I have reviewed thus far. Thor's Hammer even beat out the TRUE by a whole degree in the idle overclocked test. To say I was amazed would be a harsh understatement. If you are honestly looking for a good silent setup, Thor's Hammer by Xigmatech is the way to go. This heatsink will run you about $64.99, which isn't too pricey either. It's only cheaper than a TRUE by $5, though I'm not too sure if it beats it out price/performance wise but it comes close than any other heatsink I've seen yet and it uses a direct heatpipe touch, which I have up until now not seen a decent performing heatpipe touch heatsink. Overall, the only con I can really speak of is the tough installation I had with it, but apart from that this heatsink performs very well.

A-Z of Classic Games - Part II
Elite Bastards posted the second part of their A to Z of classic games article series

Quite possibly Andrew Braybrook's finest creation, Paradroid throws you into a spaceship full of droids who require a good sorting out. It is your job to clear every level of the ship by either destroying droids entirely or by seizing control of their circuits and taking control of them. Each droid is depicted by a number. The higher the droid, the harder it is to destroy or take over. Some droids are equipped with weapons more powerful than yours, so it is a good idea to try and take over one of these types of droid. Detailed information on all robots lower than the type you currently control can be accessed by logging onto one of the data terminals on the deck. Once a deck is cleared, the lights will dim to signify that there are no droids left.

Verdis Reviews posted a review on the OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W Power Supply

Power supplies are often a neglected part of any computer rig. They have neither the interest of a graphics card nor the features of a motherboard and so often finds itself bottom of the list when it comes to building a rig. However, the humble power supply is an essential part of any computer and a bad unit can ruin not only itself but also other components. Other things to consider are the peak output power, efficiency and whether it is SLI ready, but the main thing that a PSU needs to achieve is rock solid rail stability. OCZ sell a range of different wattage units and today we look at one from the ModXStream range that aims to achieve all this and more. Introducing the OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W.

Fujifilm FinePix S1500 Digital Camera Review
Maximum CPU has posted its review of the Fujifilm FinePix S1500 digital camera

My primary digital camera is a Fujifilm FinePix S9100. I purchased this a few years ago when a digital SLR camera system was out of out of my price range, but I wanted a capable live-view camera that didn't feel like a toy in my hands and afforded me the flexibility of manual control. It should be noted that my primary camera of choice is a Canon F-1, circa 1980. Film photography and manual focus and exposure control are my friends, but I have recognized the need for a digital solution, as not everything in my life needs to be an artistic expression. The photographs for many of my reviews have been taken with the S9100 and a Canon Speedlight. The 1500 in this review promises grown-up features for a small form-factor camera, in a lesser but similar way to my trusty 9100.

Antec True Power 750 Power Supply Review
Hi Tech Legion posted a review on the Antec True Power 750 Power Supply

PSUs come in all different capacities making each of them matched ideally to different systems. A lower wattage consumer PSU, such as a 450, is good for mild builds, such as a basic home PC or even an HTPC, that don't require as much electricity to function. Higher end gaming and enthusiast builds require much more to function properly and need a power supply that can supply 700 or more watts and be SLI or CrossFireX ready, to handle two or more graphics cards. The Antec True Power 750 answers the needs of many higher end systems. The Antec True Power 750 is 80 bronze certified and SLI ready, providing full 750 watts of power. The higher demands of a gaming system or workstation utilizing high power graphics and, in many cases, multiple graphics cards, should easily be handled by a 750 watt with these kinds of features.

Eagle Arion ET-AR504LR-BK 2.1 Soundstage Review
OCC has published a new review on the Eagle Arion ET-AR504LR-BK 2.1 Soundstage

Of course the Arion 2.1 system lost out to my 5.1 system; that was to be expected. However, overall I was impressed with what the Arion offered for its $49.99 price tag. I would honestly say, compared to some other 2.1 systems that I have heard, the Eagle Arion sounds better. The subwoofer produced great sound when it came to the bottom end. That is one of the main reasons I say it sounds better than most other 2.1 systems, as most hardly have any bass at all. Compared to the 8" woofer I used in my home theater system though, there is no contest as to which sounds better, but for a little one, it does sound great. The system would make a great portable system, no doubt about that. I could never realistically take my home theater system with me, so this is where the Arion shines. The LCD screen offers up a way of adjusting the sound level and effects while up close and personal. If you don't want to get up and adjust the sound or tone controls, you can use the included remote control. If you're looking for something to complement your gaming rig, but are on a budget, this isn't a bad place to start. Or if you want a system you could use with your laptop, then this is for you.

Corsair HX750W Power Supply Review
Hardware Secrets tested the 750 W model from Corsair HX power supply series, which is based on a DC-DC converter, promising high efficiency.

It is very important to notice that Corsair HX750W, HX850W and HX1000W have nothing to do with other models from this same series. They use a complete different (and better, by the way) design using a DC-DC converter to generate their +5 V and +3.3 V outputs, like several other high-efficiency power supplies (PC Power & Cooling Silencer 910, Antec Signature, Antec TruePower New, Seasonic M12D and Cooler Master UCP series). These HX models are manufactured by CWT, while other models from HX series are manufactured by Seasonic. Why Corsair kept the same name is a mystery. In our opinion they should have used a different name so consumers would know they are facing a different product class, targeted to users looking a power supply with high-end parts and very high efficiency.

Xigmatek Dark Knight-S1283V Review
OCC has published a new review on the Xigmatek Dark Knight-S1283V

Most heatsinks in its price range don't look as nice or have LED fans. Some of them don't even come with fans that push as much air as what is included with the Dark Knight. Mounting the heatsink was not much of a challenge like some I have had to tackle. I must say though, with as many heatsinks as there are on the market now, I am a bit disappointed that Xigmatek never gave you the option for a second fan on the heatsink. It's also the fact that in my heatsink reviews, I have only encountered one other heatsink not capable of having a second fan. This model from Xigmatek only uses 3 heatpipes in a U shaped configuration to remove the heat generated by the CPU. While this may suffice with a CPU that does not dump as large a heat load, it just did not have the ability to keep the i7 920 cool. As a stock replacement, it would do fine. But for the overclocker or enthusiast looking for temperatures much lower than the stock cooler, the S-1283V Dark Knight just did not deliver on that front.

Cooler Master Sileo 500 Mid Tower Case Review
TweakTown posted a review on the Cooler Master Sileo 500 Mid Tower Case

There seems to be a remarkable trend for the quest of silent computing lately. A lot of the major brands seem to be adding lower CFM fans to bring down the “roar” associated with the typical gaming chassis. Some manufacturers take this even further with various anti-vibration mounting systems, and some even come with sound proofing materials already applied to the door panels, such as the Lian Li I just recently reviewed.

This time around Cooler Master has submitted the Sileo 500, a silent, mid tower chassis that includes a power supply with the purchase. So far I’m impressed with the idea of a silent chassis and have only seen one to date, but I am eager to see what Cooler Master has come up with to accomplish this quest. Let’s get through the specifics of what the Sileo 500 has to offer which may well persuade you to look to Cooler Master on your next purchase.
