Q&A with AMD
T-Break had a Q&A session with AMD

I got to spend a little time with Dr. Gaith Kadir, the General Manager for AMD in the Middle East & Africa and Pakistan. The following is a bit from the Q&A session:

Next, we spoke about upcoming AMD products and were informed that the K8L is very much on schedule. For those not familiar, the K8L is AMD’s upcoming quad core CPU that will consume no more power than their current dual core solutions at identical speeds

Mushkin Redline Xp2-8000 2x1GB Memory Review
R&B Mods checked out the Mushkin Redline Xp2-8000 2x1GB memory kit

With all memory manufacturers going for DDR2 these days it's not weird that all sites slowly are starting to get samples of DDR2 with lower timings and better speeds. We got a sample from Mushkin this time, they sent us a kit that comes from the Redline series that has performed extremely well as normal DDR, therefore it will be interesting if they have been able to get the performance and speeds also on their new DDR2 kit.

Sansun Bat Case Review
Extensive Mods posted a review on the Sansun Bat Case

Sansun has been around for awhile now, and has quite an interesting lineup of premods available. Now, personally, I don’t see premods as a benefit of any kind to the modding world, if anything they take away from it. However, the need for nicer looking cases does exist, and I can only guess that’s what Sansun was attempting to do with this case. Read on for more details…

Ultra Grid ATX Case Review
TechPowerUp takes a look at the Ultra Grid ATX Case

The Ultra Grid case does not only sport a great paint job, but includes two 12cm fans, a 500W power supply, a great door with magnetic locks and a fancy "Ultra" air duct. It even has space for 11 drives. We take a close look at the case & the included V-Series 500W power supply to figure out if the case has everything we look for when we pay a penny short of $150 or if it leaves a hurtful void in our wallet, wishing we have gotten more.

AMD Sempron 3600+ 2.0GHz Socket AM2 Processor Review
PC Stats put up an AMD Sempron 3600+ 2.0GHz Socket AM2 Processor review

The AMD Sempron processor has received little press, but that hasn't stopped it from runing circles around the wheezy little Celeron D! The Socket AM2 AMD Sempron 3600+ is AMD's to top of the line value processor and it has 256KB Cache as opposed to the standard Athlon64 amount of 512KB. With a retail price of just $117 CDN the single core 2.0GHz Sempron 3600+ CPU is certainly easy on the wallet... In this review PCSTATS will test the 2.0GHz Sempron 3600+ processor to see if it is the real best buy of the bunch. Get your cup of coffee ready, and let's begin...

NZXT has impressed us quite a bit with their Lexa and Apollo cases, so we were looking forward to giving their entry into the PSU market a spin! It proves itself to be a supply worthy of your consideration, but is a wee bit overpriced.

Zogis is the newest player in the VGA market and they teamed up with nVidia. Titan Amanda Review
Overclockers Online has posted a new review on the Titan Amanda

I was thoroughly surprised when I saw the load temperatures drop by such a significant factor. The only fault is the high price tag Titan can be known for. Cost aside, this cooler will be a good fit for anyone looking for high performance without having to get their foot wet in the water.

Apevia X-Discovery PC Case Review
ThinkComputers.org has posted a review on the Apevia X-Discovery PC Case

I remember a few years ago when modding first started to come into the scene, cases with windows and lights were very popular. Lately many PC case manufactures have been going for the more conservative sleek look. So there are not that many options when looking for a PC case with all that bling. Apevia, which was previously known as Aspire has sent us a great case that has a ton of bling. The X-Discovery case has everything you want in a case, a side window, LED fans, front lights and a clear door. So let's take a look!

The Business Side Of Blogs
The TechZone has posted a new article called The Business Side Of Blogs

Blogs began to emerge a few years ago as an on-line personal diary (open - allowing comments or closed - locking out inputs). The blogosphere then evolved to one of social or like interest destinations. Recently it has become the up-to-the-minute "straight scoop" news location and business/political influence destination. It has been cited as the place that can help make or break a company, product or political candidate.

Yet the overwhelming, ultra-positive blog noise for the movie Snakes in the Plane didn't produce blockbuster earnings on its opening weekend (and after). Some view this as proof that the personal aspect of the blogosphere is just that.personal.

Linux Pluggable Authentication Module (PAM) Overview
MadPenguin.org published a Linux Pluggable Authentication Module (PAM) Overview

Authentication is the process in which a program determines whether a user is actually the person who he claims to be. It is used in any kind of a system that provides different services to people depending upon their membership. When you log in to your favorite mailbox, access ATM, or use the services of Net Banking; what you are actually doing is obtaining service from the service provider after proving your credibility using your credentials (i.e. generally your user name and password).

Sharkoon L337 Gaming Mouse Mat Review
XtremeComputing posted a review on the Sharkoon L337 Gaming Mouse Mat

Add to that it is also the thinnest I have seen yet, I mean it is like thin, durable and actually works well. Maybe some may think it is to thin, but I have to say that was a thought at first, using the Mat for as long as I have now would have to put that thought away. To sum it up if you want a pro gaming mat that highly durable, accurate and as soft as cotton then this is the mat for you, I haven't used a better mouse mat yet.

Corsair Dominator Review
bit-tech.net posted a review on the Dominator Twin2X2048-8888C4DF memory modules

The Dominator 8888C4DF modules are the fastest memory modules on the market at the time of writing. However, as we have shown over the course of this article (and in our previous memory articles), memory performance doesn't seem to have a massive impact on general system performance in this day and age with the advances in on-board cache technology. While there is not much of a difference in system performance, there are some obvious differences in design.

ECS 945GTY-M MoDT 945GT S479 Mainboard Review
OCW posted a review on the ECS 945GTY-M MoDT 945GT S479 mainboard

The ECS 945GTY-M is ECS's first entry product to the MoDT market. The growing trend of HTPC has proven that notebook processors like Yonah and Merom are suitable replacements of desktop CPUs which runs hot and require more power.

In our tests, we paired up the board with a IntelR CoreT Duo processor T2300 65 nm 2MB L2 1.66 GHz 667 MHz 31W. This processor is the lowest clock speed of the Yonah series of processor. Although it is meant for notebooks, the performance is pretty good, comparable to a AM2 4000+ in some benchmarks. With the packaged heatsink/fan mounted, I can hardly hear a noise from the system. Furthermore, the CPU temperature is also lower compared to desktop CPUs.

Galaxy GeForce 7600 GS AGP Review
Elite Bastards takes a look at the Galaxy GeForce 7600 GS AGP video card

Let's be honest for a second here, if you're running some of the last Socket 478-based Pentium 4s or a Socket 939 Athlon64 CPU on an nForce 3 Ultra or the like, with a healthy amount of memory, then there's very little tangible need for the overall system upgrade. Moving such a system to PCI Express could quite conceivably mean replacing the motherboard, memory and CPU, leaving you out of pocket when it comes to buying the GPU you craved in the first place.

Although this is liable to be the last generation of graphics hardware that gets the AGP treatment, thankfully users of the aforementioned systems are starting to find themselves with a growing numbers of options when it comes to upgrading their graphics subsystem, thanks almost exclusively to NVIDIA's willingness to ship parts utilising this older interface. First came the higher-end GeForce 7800 GS, which has now been bolstered by partners beginning to ship GeForce 7600-based parts in an AGP flavour.

It is one of these parts that we will be looking at today, courtesy of those good, good people at Galaxy. So, under the microscope we go with their GeForce 7600 GS AGP, to see if it can make for a worthwhile upgrade for those hungry hordes of AGP pixel whores.

Sennheiser PC120 and PC30 Headsets Review
TrustedReviews looked at the Sennheiser PC120 and PC30 Headsets

At first look, you'd think I was wearing a Bluetooth headset, but the cable is a bit of a giveaway. It's a small one piece device that clips on to your ear. The headphone portion of the device pivots around 180 degrees so that it works on either ear. The ear piece fits inside your ear and provides most of the support, while the shroud around your ear just gives it that little bit extra.

Kodak EasyShare Z650 Review
TrustedReviews looked at the Kodak EasyShare Z650

Around this time last month I reviewed the Kodak P712, a 12x zoom, 7.1 megapixel high-end camera costing around £300. This week I’ve got its kid brother on the test bench. Where the P712 was aimed at the enthusiast photographer market, the EasyShare Z650 (what is it with naming cameras after motorbikes?) is pitched a little lower, at the point-and-shoot snapshot market. It’s a bit too big to be considered a pocket compact, but for the holiday snapper looking for a little more versatility it seems like the perfect solution. Kodak does a number of things very well indeed, and one of these is to make good, easy-to-use cameras at prices that anyone can afford. There aren’t many manufacturers that can beat it at this game.
