Real-time raytracing for PC games almost a reality
PC Perspective has just published an article that looks at the development taking place at Intel in the area of real-time raytracing for the rendering of games.

All of this leads us to one thought: we want this now. Unfortunately, that's not quite possible as the hardware isn't fast enough to get high resolution and high frame rates at the same time. But it turns out we aren't far from that convergence. The team at Intel estimates that within 2 years or so, the hardware will exist that will allow "game quality" ray tracing on a desktop machine. That means that in that timeframe we might see a fully raytraced game engine (though probably from a team like one at Intel).

APH Networks has published a new review on the A-DATA PD 17 1GB USB Flash Drive

Flash drives. Whether you are a computer enthusiast or just a regular computer user, these 'geek sticks' sure caught on with the mainstream crowd -- it's extremely hard nowadays to find someone who does not own one of these. Being a general consumer product, sometimes aesthetics in relation to being a fashion statement is just as important as performance is to an enthusiast. This is made possible as technology advances to permit physically smaller and smaller units to be manufactured with minimal sacrifices otherwise. Today, we'll look at the A-DATA PD 17 USB flash drive -- it sure comes in a unique design to accommodate users desiring disks with great looks, but how well does it fit in other areas such as performance? Let's examine this drive to see if everything goes as well as its looks.

Vizo Luxon Advanced ED SATA HDD Enclosure USB/eSATA Review
DragonSteelMods posted a review on the Vizo Luxon Advanced ED SATA HDD Enclosure USB/eSATA

Many companies are marketing portable hard drives and in my opinion overcharging for what you get. These enclosures are just a standard hard drive stuck in a stylish looking enclosure and sometimes packed with some "special" software, overall it's really not worth the extra premium you end up paying. The product I have for review today offers a great alternative to those expensive HDD enclosures, it's the Vizo Luxon Advanced ED SATA hard drive enclosure. I've always been a fan of the Luxon series of enclosures, they are extremely well made, they look great and function flawlessly. The Luxon does not come with a hard drive or any fancy software, but add a hard drive and you have a great enclosure for still about half of the cost of those others out there for sale today.

Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 64 Review
OCC has published a new review of the Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 64

In three of the four tests, the Freezer 64 Pro came within two to four degrees Celsius of the XP 90. Considering that the XP 90 is about double the price after you purchase a fan to mount on it, two to four degrees isn't bad. The Freezer Pro 64 is very quiet, almost inaudible when placed inside the case. It was also quite easy to install, and I did not have to cut the mounting clip on it to place it on the motherboard that it was tested on. If you have read any of my articles, you will realize that I'm a stickler when it comes to fan noise. I run three to five computers in my office at any given time and it can get quite loud; I am always searching for an alternative. I will be using the Freezer Pro 64 on the next AMD rig I build.

OCZ ProXStream 1000W Power Supply Review
ThinkComputers.org posted a review on the OCZ ProXStream 1000W Power Supply

1000W power supplies are all over the place now so of course we would see one from OCZ. OCZ power supplies from the ModXStream and GameXStream series have been very popular with consumers. Today we will be looking at a new series from OCZ the ProXStream. The ProXStream has one of the smallest form factors of a 1000W power supply that I have seen and has an industry-leading 3 year warranty. I have never actually checked out an OCZ power supply before so we will see how it stacks up against other 1000W power supplies that we have tested.

Antazone AS-C1000 INTEL/AMD Heatpipe CPU Cooler Review
Tweaknews.net posted a review on the Antazone AS-C1000 INTEL/AMD Heatpipe CPU Cooler

All in all this is a very poor showing from Antazone. Whilst the build quality was superb and the finish very clean and tidy the cooling performance and mounting solution really let this product down. I can't in good conscience recommend this cooler to anyone. The price is good for a copper cooler but unless you want a new cooler for your dated P4 Northwood or Socket A system then you'd better keep looking.

VisionTek Radeon HD 2400 Pro Review
Bjorn3D take a look at the VisionTek Radeon HD 2400 Pro.

Despite the fact that we all wish to own the best graphic cards on the market, the reality is that not all of us can afford or need the top of the line 8800 GTX or HD 2900XT. Many users are looking for a simple graphic card that does not cost a leg or an arm and offers a better performance than the integrated graphic that is included with their system. Both NVIDIA and ATI have cards that will satisfy the need of the budget buyer. We have looked at the NVIDIA’s 8500 GT and ATI HD 2600 XT and today we will take a look at the HD 2400 Pro from VisionTek.
