Corsair Vengeance PC3-15000 16GB Kit Review
TweakTown posted Corsair Vengeance PC3-15000 16GB Kit Review

The other day we looked at the new Corsair Dominator GTX8 8GB kit and we found ourselves really impressed with what Corsair was offering us. The problem with this kit is that to achieve 2400MHz DDR, you need a CPU that's able to offer that kind of speed and as we mentioned in that review, out of the three 3960X CPUs we had, only one could achieve this speed with the other two maxing out around the 2300MHz DDR area.

The Dominator GTX8 kit is also a really high end one; the massive amount of speed comes at the cost of only having a total of 8GB. While plenty for most, the introduction of Quad Channel will bring with it 16GB as the standard amount of RAM for most people. Also being part of the GTX line means that it's got a higher cost and is of course only on a limited run.

ASRock X79 Extreme4-M Review
Vortez posted a review on the ASRock X79 Extreme4-M

With today's society looking for more value for money, better efficiency yet all bundled up in a smaller package you would think it makes sense to opt for a mATX motherboard. As we will see, bigger does not always translate to better and despite being smaller, the ASRock may just have one or two tricks up its sleeve to outperform its bigger competitors. The legend of David and Goliath spring to mind with this review so it remains to be seen if the ASRock can sling-shot its way past the giants or will it be crushed beneath the sole of the bigger ATX motherboards? I think it's time we found out...

Kingwin Stryker STR-500 500W Fanless Power Supply Review
TweakTown posted Kingwin Stryker STR-500 500W Fanless Power Supply Review

One of the best parts of covering hardware for computer enthusiasts is that there are so many different needs for enthusiasts. Usually when someone thinks of someone as being an enthusiast, they relate them with someone who has the fastest or most powerful equipment available. This isn't necessarily the case, especially with what we are looking at today. HTPC enthusiasts often look for something that is small and unobtrusive, or something that is silent yet powerful. Silent and powerful is something that is hard to come by with a HTPC, especially since fanless power supplies are few and far between.

Thankfully we now have another option thanks to Kingwin launching their Stryker Fanless series. Today we are going to take a look at the 500W model. It boasts quite a few features that will allow it to fulfill a variety of roles and should also appeal to a wide customer base. Not only is the Stryker series a fanless power supply, but it also comes with enough connectors to power multi-GPU systems and has an 80Plus Platinum efficiency rating. Keep reading to find out more about Kingwin's latest.

Our report today is going to examine the Patriot Pyro SE SATA 3 SSD. The Patriot Pyro SE (Special Edition) is the big brother of the Patriot Pyro SSD that we reviewed a few months back. The difference between the Pyro and the Pyro SE is that the Pyro SE that we are reviewing today utilizes premium synchronous NAND flash memory whereas the Pyro contained more value conscious asynchronous memory modules. At the end of the day, the Pyro SE is the true performer of the family while the Pyro has a lower price.

Antec P180 Mini Review

Battlefield 3 Mini Tweak Guide for Latency (ping) and more
TweakTown posted a Battlefield 3 Mini Tweak Guide for Latency (ping) and more

Let me paint a little picture here - I personally use a speedy fiber Internet connection and typically it is super fast for anything I do. You'd imagine my pain in launching a Battlefield 3 session after waiting patiently to connect to a server nearby with a good ping, only to find when I get in the game, it's lagging almost to an unplayable degree. Alright, it's not like the good old days where you'd see up to and above 500ms latency - but still, it's enough to get your aim and so forth off target and cause some real mouse smashing on the pad. So, I set to finding a solution for the problem - everyone else seems to be fragging nicely, but not me. It turns out that to enable a smooth gaming experience in BF3 on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 there is a little bit of work to be done. You know EA... it would be nice if you made this a little more public. I suspect it may be because not everyone is affected by the issue and it will depend greatly on your n
etwork setup. Anyway, to cut to the chase, it turns out you need to enable certain online ports for BF3 to offer a lag-free gaming experience.

Let's run you through now how to get this done. It's going to involve playing around with your router and opening up ports to your specific PC or console IP addresses that you are using to play BF3. Sounds messy, right? Once you know where to look, it really only takes a few minutes to do. I'd highly recommend you visit portforward.com which provides step-by-step instructions for setting up port forward on many different routers.

Core i7 3960X with 4-Way CrossFireX HD 6970 Performance Analysis
TweakTown posted Core i7 3960X with 4-Way CrossFireX HD 6970 Performance Analysis

It's been ages since we've tested 4-Way CrossFireX actually. Recently we did a bit of 3-Way CrossFireX action with the introduction of the Bulldozer and Sandy Bridge-E platform, but apart from that there hasn't been any real reason lately to expand from those numbers; that along with the fact that most boards support only up to three cards.

The introduction of the new high end platform from Intel means that we're starting to see 4-Way boards hit and our new X79 testbed which finds itself graced with the ASUS Rampage IV Extreme supports four way CrossFireX and SLI.

Western Digital Scorpio Blue 1TB 5400RPM Hard Drive Review
TweakTown posted Western Digital Scorpio Blue 1TB 5400RPM Hard Drive Review

With the SSD season slowing down, we finally get to break free and spend some time on other storage technology. The mechanical hard drive world has made some advances in recent months. Some of the biggest news has come from companies like Western Digital increasing the platter density on their disks.

The 1TB mark for the 2.5" form factor was hit over a year ago, but all of the early drives used 15mm drive heights with three spinning platters. Western Digital was the first with a 1TB 15mm drive and they are also one of the first with a standard notebook size 1TB drive as well.
