Before we look at whether or not this thing really works, let's take a look at how it works it's magic. Basically, it takes advantage of how our own eyes and brain perceive images by essentially displaying two 512x768 images stretched across the screen. The left image appears on odd columns where the right image appears on even columns. Both images are shown simultaneously using an 'illumination plate' behind the LCD panel. DTI uses this to perform what they call 'parallax illumination'. Your brain takes the two images and combines them to form an apparent 3D image. Think about the 'Red/Blue glasses' type of 3D and how it works. A slightly different image is seen by the left and right eyes, creating an illusion of depth when the images are combined in our brains.
