A dual processor system has several advantages over a uniprocessor system, other than the standard bragging rights of having two processors operating in one system. Multiple operations performed simultaneously can be completed in literally half the time, and some applications that take advantage of symmetrical processing show a substantial performance benefit, although a majority of single threaded applications don´t take advantage of a dual processor system.
