ASUS Radeon R9 Fury STRIX Graphics Card Review

The reason many of us even started using PCs in the first place was because we wanted something capable of many more uses compared to gaming consoles (although i have to admit that back when i got my first 80386 my Amiga 500 was still my favorite). Of course when talking about gaming graphics is the very first thing that comes to mind and since the early 90's (back then we swapped graphics cards more than twice a year) i must have gotten my hands on at least 50 graphics cards from pretty much every available manufacturer in the market (sadly today some of those manufacturers no longer exist). Luckily with the "firepower" today’s graphics cards offer gamers don't need to change them nearly as often and that goes double for high-end models. Now we all know that we haven't focused nearly as much in releasing graphics cards reviews as many of you have asked so we will do our best to fix that in the coming months (this time we will do our best to make it so) and the first step is by testing the Radeon R9 Fury STRIX model by ASUS (better late than never right?).

Roughly 10 months ago AMD released their Radeon R9 Fury X and Fury graphics cards based on their flagship Fiji graphics processor that sports a total of 8.9 billion transistors. AMD used the fully unlocked processor for their Radeon R9 Fury X models (and the Radeon R9 Nano later on) but they used a slightly cut-down version for the Radeon R9 Fury cards so whereas the Fury X and Nano models feature a total of 4096 SPs (stream processors), 256 TMUs (texture mapping units), 64 ROPs (raster operations pipelines) and 4096-bit memory bus the Fury cards feature 3584 SPs and 224 TMUs (ROPS and memory bus stay the same). The Radeon R9 Fury STRIX model which we have here today by ASUS pairs the "cut-down" Fiji graphics processor with 4GB of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) clocked at 500MHz / 1.0Gbps (effective data rate) and their latest patented DirectCU III triple-fan cooling system. Corsair Carbide 400C review: Carbide renewed

Recently Corsair released two new cases in their Carbide series, namely the 400C and the 400Q. The C and Q stand for 'cool' and 'quiet' respectively. We had already reviewed the 600Q, another case from the Carbide series, on our Dutch site, and it honestly did not perform as well as we expected. For this reason we were very curious about how well the Corsair Carbide 400C would do in our tests.

While the 600 models were entirely new additions to the Carbide series, there already was a model in the 400 line, the 400R. The 400R was released back in 2011 and just like most other Carbide models it was an 'airflow' case mainly aimed at good cooling performance. Or rather is, at the moment of writing it is still available for purchase.

Corsair M65 Pro RGB Gaming Mouse Review

Corsair recently introduced the M65 gaming mouse, featuring a eight programmable buttons, a dedicated "sniper" button, Omron switches, and a weight-tuned aluminum base. Like many enthusiast products these days, it also boasts dynamic, customizable backlighting supporting the RGB spectrum of 16.8 million colors to match your keyboard or case lighting.

Taking a closer look at the M65 RGB, we find a 12000 DPI optical sensor for more precise tracking with a surface sensing capability, allowing the mouse to easily slide across many surfaces using large glide PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene; i.e. Teflon) pads. The mouse connects to your computer using a 1.8 meter braided USB cable, and supports the Corsair Utility Engine (CUE) for button and function configuration. You can program the mouse using the CUE software interface to create macros for repetitive actions, customize backlighting colors even for the five DPI setting button, and much more.

The top of the mouse is covered with a thin rubber coating to provide slip free control for work and especially during those intense gaming sessions. Let's get things rolling by taking the M65 RGB gaming mouse out of the box and get a better look at some of the features.

Gaming PC - April 2016

This computer system is specifically geared towards gaming. That means a PC with a high-end graphics card and a processor that is fast enough to support the GPU.

The rest of the configuration needs to be balanced as well. Since many gamers also enjoy overclocking their PC to improve performance, it is also important to choose a motherboard and memory that is suitable for this. Keep in mind that you will pay extra for that overclocking potential.

Today we have Gigabyte BRIX S Ultra Compact PC Kit in the hot seat. This isn't the Gigabyte BRIX S BXi5H-5200 Ultra Compact PC Kit that we reviewed last year, but rather the Gigabyte BRIX S BSi7H-6500 Ultra Compact PC Kit. This is one of the many revamped Gigabyte BRIX models that debuted at CES 2016! Gigabyte updated the exterior to have an arguably improved brushed aluminum finish and also updated the inside to include the latest Intel 6th Generation Core 'Skylake' processors along with M.2 PCIe SSD storage support.

GIGABYTE Z170MX-Gaming 5 Review

On our Intel Z170 journey we’ve so far not encountered a Micro-ATX option. In fact, Micro-ATX motherboards using the Intel Z170 chipset are fairly scarce and yet the demand for downsizing is very much a popular venture for system builders who require a compact configuration for portability or to simply make way for more space in that man-cave (or woman-cave!).

Today we’re to look at what GIGABYTE has to offer in the Z170MX-Gaming 5. This condensed motherboard shares some key similarities with its larger siblings which make use of the ATX form factor. he Nintendo Wii U is a great little gaming system that suffers from bad naming sadly, but it’s still fun to play and it needs protection and there are plenty of options out there to protect it. The Wii U gamepad is innovative and fun, I like to play games on it actually instead of on the TV when I can as one of my kids might be using the TV with the Xbox One but I thought it needed protecting so I hoped over to Amazon and bought a Hori protector for it which is retro Mario Bros themed and I like it.
