When Microsoft announced DirectX 12 yesterday, we learned that a broad swath of existing hardware would support the new API. That wasn't the whole story, however, as Nvidia's Tony Tamasi clarified in an interview with us today. It turns out that DirectX 12 will introduce a set of new features in addition to the lower-level abstraction, and those features will require new hardware.

Gigabytes G1.Sniper 5 motherboard reviewed

Gigabyte's G1.Sniper 5 is a beast. It has a Haswell-compatible socket, multiple wired and wireless networking options, exotic integrated audio with a replaceable OP-amp, and enough PCIe x16 slots to fuel quad CrossFire and SLI setups. We spent some quality time with the board to see how it measures up.

In Depth: Windows 8.1 Update 1: whats in Microsofts latest Windows update

It would be fair to say, at this point, that Windows 8 has not been a success. Beyond the typically harsh technology community, even the everyday users of Windows 8 are not content. The fragmentation between the elements of Windows 7 that made it into Windows 8 and the more 'Modern UI'/Metro elements are confusing, with basic Microsoft products such as the Office suite awkwardly flipping between the two states.

Netgear Nighthawk R7000 AC1900 Wireless Router Review

Today we look at Netgear’s flagship dual-band router, the Nighthawk R7000. Legit Reviews has been evaluating Wireless-AC devices for a number of years and has put off upgrading from a the original Netgear R6300 V1 router. While not the absolute fastest, nor the most customizable, the Netgear R6300 V1 has been a fairly reliable device that has never let us down with wireless drops. Seagate Desktop SSHD 4TB

It's common knowledge that the appearance of consumer oriented Solid State Drives (SSDs) revolutionized the storage industry but even after several years in the market their price/capacity ratio is nowhere close to the one of regular mechanical drives and that's something that drives away casual consumers who are not really interested in getting the highest possible performance levels. Well because manufacturers know how the market works the next obvious step for them was to somehow marry the high performance levels of SSDs with the capacity of regular HDDs in order to dish out something just as fast but with higher capacity and lower price and out of that marriage hybrid drives were born. Unfortunately although the first attempts did offer some performance improvements at roughly the same price as regular HDDs they weren't very successful in convincing consumers that this was the way to go. Today we will be taking a very thorough look at the latest Desktop SSHD 4TB model which is actually Seagate€™s very first attempt in combining the speed of an SSD with the large capacity of a 3.5" HDD.
