VR-Zone posted a first look on the Intel Core i7 Haswell-E

Intel is expected to launch Haswell-E sometime in the third quarter of 2014, and VR-Zone recently got a first look at an engineering sample of the chip.

Haswell-E will feature 8 cores clocked at 3GHz and will be based on the 22nm process node as Ivy Bridge-E. At launch Intel is understood to be intending to ship two versions of the chip: an “X” ,or extreme edition of the chip, as well as a “K” edition.

Haswell-E will use Intel’s X99 chipset, which as VR-Zone previously reported, is not compatible with the earlier X79 series. Intel’s X99 will offer native support for USB 3.0, as well as 10 Ports of SATA 6Gb / s.
