Antec A40 Pro & C400 Air Cooler Review

The budget air cooling market is fiercely competitive, and it is this segment that Antec is targeting with its A40 Pro and C400 coolers. Oddly, the A40 Pro is the cheaper (and smaller) of the two despite its ‘Pro’ moniker, coming in at £21.95, while its bigger brother costs £30.95. Can they do enough to stand out in this market?

G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 3600 MHz C16 DDR4

G.SKILL's at the forefront of RGB memory with their TridentZ RGB series of DDR4 modules. These sticks don't differ that much from past TridentZ modules at first glance, but built with high-quality memory ICs and G.SKILL's own RGB design, these DDR4 sticks are so very different from most other DDR4 sticks on the market..

Iiyama G-Master Silver Crow GB2783QSU-B1 review: gaming with a silver crow

The teamwork between product developers and marketing departments can lead to remarkable results. An example would be the Iiyama ProLite B2783QSU-B1 monitor, which we covered last year. A model that was meant for business users, but also turned out to have surprisingly good performance for gamers. That is not an obvious combination. The recently introduced G-Master Silver Crow GB2783QSU-B1 is, as the name and product package suggest, meant for gamers.

Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate GT 2TB USB 3.1 Gen 1 Flash Drive Review

The Ultimate GT 2TB USB 3.1 Gen 1 Flash Drive by Kingston may not be able to keep up with the latest Portable SSDs in both price and performance but there's no denying that because of its size, overall performance and capacity it has its very own audience.

Micron Discusses GDDR: 16 Gbps GDDR5X, 16 nm GDDR6 and GDDR5

Micron has made a number of announcements in recent weeks regarding its GDDR memory for graphics cards, game consoles and networking applications. The company is reporting that theyve been able to hit 16 Gbps data rates in the lab on their latest generation of GDDR5X devices, while also reiterating their long-term plans for GDDR6 and GDDR5, with GDDR6 memory due in a couple of quarters from now, while GDDR5 will be here to stay for a long time to come.

Graphics DRAM has been a hot topic in the industry in the recent years as GPU demands for memory bandwidth are growing rapidly and because different companies offer different types of memory to satisfy these increasing requirements. For example, SK Hynix and Samsung rolled out HBM (Gen 1 and Gen 2) memory in 2015 and 2016 for ultra-high-end consumer and HPC applications, whereas Micron introduced its GDDR5X for high-end graphics cards last year. At present, HBM offers the greatest potential bandwidth, however the complexity of the multi-layer chips and 2.5D packaging keep costs high, so it remains to be seen which mass consumer applications adopt it. Meanwhile, conventional graphics memory in BGA packaging and proven architecture continues to evolve and hit new performance targets due to architectural improvements, which are intended to keep it competitive in the coming years.

MSI Intros X299 Tomahawk Arctic Motherboard

MSI today introduced the X299 Tomahawk Arctic motherboard. A near-identical variant of the X299 Tomahawk, the board features a mostly-white color scheme with grey and black accents. It features a white PCB with grey streaks. The white scheme carries over to the chipset and VRM heatsinks, the rear I/O shroud, the eight DDR4 DIMM and four PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots. The heatsinks and rear I/O shroud also feature brushed-aluminium inserts for added style.

Phanteks Enthoo Elite (£800 mega case / dual systems with liquid cooling)

In our video we suggest the Phanteks Enthoo Elite might be the most expensive PC case in the world, completely forgetting the In-Win H-Tower costs £1,999. Well OK, fair enough, if we discount cases that have motorised panels the Elite is the most expensive case in the world. The price is significant but the main point is that Phanteks Enthoo Elite is a huge case with aluminium panels and a massive glass door that offers the longest list of features we have ever seen.

And we have checked that point. And it is correct.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Mini-Test

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds pre-release build has been available since March, and by the first month it had sold well over a million copies. So the game is popular, but it's also known for not being greatly optimized. I've been messing around with a few CPU and GPU combinations over the past week, seeing which hardware deliver the most value.
