Bytesector has posted a review on the Maxtor MaXLine III hard disks

Maxtor is an active participant in the storage solutions market. Recently they jumped head first into the Serial ATA market and made quite an impression. In recent months I took a look at Maxtor’s DiamondMax Plus 9 Serial ATA edition and now we are looking to examine another of their hard drives.

These drives sport some really interesting features; the most interesting is the incredible 16MB cache buffer. Among the features comes a 7200RPM spindle, 250-300GB capacities, a 9.3ms average seek time, S.M.A.R.T. features and it supports either PATA or SATA interfaces (ours is SATA). Just so I am not confusing you, SMART is a feature that allows the system to monitor the health and temperature of a disk drive. This is crucial when it comes to guarding data because it will alert you when the drive is causing problems and is near failure.
