On April 3, the software giant will announce Open License 5, a newly developed program designed to make it easier for solution providers and partners to sell into the small and midsize business markets.

As part of that initiative, Microsoft (stock: MSFT) will unveil Open Business, a licensing program that allows small business customers to license products in smaller quantities and mix and match products on single orders to achieve discounts. For example, a small business will be able to buy two licenses of Windows 2000, two Office 2000 licenses, and a third BackOffice license on one purchase order to secure licensing discounts of between 5 percent and 10 percent, sources said.
