SmartLine, Inc. has released the second beta version of their easy-to-use security solution that fully protects corporate networks against attacks from the inside.

PortsLock is a personal firewall for Windows NT/2000/XP that fully supports user-level security. Once PortsLock is installed, administrators can control which users can access what TCP/IP based protocols (HTTP, FTP, SMTP, POP3, Telnet, etc.) on a local computer, depending on the time of day and day of the week. PortsLock lets you set allowed/denied TCP/UDP ports and IP-addresses for incoming and outgoing connections.

With PortsLock you can:

- Block access to the selected TCP/UDP ports for defined users
- Set allowed/denied IP-addresses for defined users
- Control incoming and outgoing connections for each user separately
- Control access to TCP/IP based protocols depending on the time of day and day of the week
- Control all functions remotely
- Install PortsLock Service on remote computers without having to physically go to them
- Install and uninstall it automatically from a script or via MS SMS

What's New:

- Now PortsLock can audit network activity and save it to the NT's Event Log.
- Added built-in Event Viewer that allows you to view the Event Log.
- You can use drag-and-drop to change the rules order in the rules tree.
- Many bugs in the PortsLock driver are fixed.
