Vantec SATA/IDE to USB 3.0 Adapter Review @ Legit Reviews

All storage drives fail at some point and there is likely a situation where you wanted to connect a drive to your computer to work on, but couldn't easily do so. Vantec came up with a nifty little product called the Vantec SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 Adapter years ago that allowed you to take any SATA or IDE drive and connect it to your PC through a USB 2.0 data port. Vantec even included an external power brick to power 5.25" optical drives and 3.5" hard drives with this external adapter. The small adapter was ingenious as it ensured that you should always have a way to connect drives to your desktop or laptop without opening a case or fiddling about the inside of your PC to get it connected to the motherboard. Vantec recently came out with a new USB 3.0 version of this adapter and that is what we are reviewing today!

Samsung HS3000 Clip-On Bluetooth Headset Review @ eTeknix

Wireless headsets are not a new innovation to the smartphone world, they’ve been around as long as the smartphone itself, but over the years a lot of things have improved as the technology inside these devices matures. Battery life has increased, sound quality has improved, pairing speed has increased and usability is near enough universal. A Bluetooth headset then is no longer an accessory dedicated to just the businessman or woman. It provides access to telephony and media on the move when driving or perhaps cycling, whatever you’re doing you can clip on a headset to your person and know that your smartphone can be put somewhere secure and not get in the way.

Today I’ll be reviewing the Samsung HS3000, a stylish and generously specced stereo headset and exploring what it offers at its asking price of £35.

The packaging is very Samsung, almost all of their modern products come in minimal no nonsense packaging in either a translucent pack or white box. Accessories like headsets are mostly translucent to give you a sneak peek at what the product looks like and gauge its size. It’s a modern look and appealing, sure to catch your attention on a store shelf compared to completely boxed up competitor models. On the reverse the specifications and other information is well laid out, there isn’t a plethora of complex technical details but instead just the right amount to know that what’s inside is going to be good with a breakdown of the core features.

ADATA DashDrive Elite SE720 External Solid State Drive Review @ ThinkComputers.org

Last year we took a look at a very sexy external hard drive from ADATA. The DashDrive Elite HE720 was a great external hard drive, but it was limited by the mechanical hard drive that was inside of it. Well ADATA is back with the DashDrive Elite SE720, which looks almost identical to the HE720, but what’s under the hood is completely different. This time with the SE720 ADATA has packed it with a 128 GB solid state drive. Intel Salt Bay Android phone prototype benched @ Fudzilla

Over the past year or so Intel shipped around quite a few phone prototypes to its R&D centres around the globe, including Salt Bay and Red Hook Bay devices. Red Hook Bay benchmarks appeared a year ago and the device was Medfield based, but nothing became of it. Medfield was not slow, but it was not very efficient, either. It also lacked LTE support.

However, Salt Bay is a Merrifield test platform and a year later it was its turn to show up in some benchmarks. Italian mobile news site Tutto Android seems to have found a few legit benches, which are encouraging to say the least. There's more. Salt Bay features an XMM7160 modem and supports LTE-A up to 150Mbps.

QNAP HS-210 Review @ Hexus

Tech enthusiasts should be well aware of the benefits of network-attached storage, but for manufacturers, the ultimate end goal is to convince mainstream audiences that these pint-sized boxes are essential in the modern-day home.

Taiwanese outfit QNAP reckons the way forward is to take the NAS into the living room, and it's hoping to do exactly that with the new HS-210.
