Alexander Peter Kowalski has updated his Tuning Guide for Windows NT/2000.



I first defrag using Speeddisk, for its ability to "smartly" place files on disk in ´bands´ of use frequency & modification patterns. I then set Diskeeper to defrag the MFT$ (Master File Table), & reboot! Then, I reboot once more & use PageDefrag.exe to defrag the registry & pagefile.sys (NT based OS swapfile/pagefile). Lastly, I use at boottime a GREAT LITTLE PROGRAM (again from SysInternals) called contig.exe!
