GamePC has posted a VIA KT-266A motherboard shootout



About two months back, VIA introduced the KT-266 chipset once again as a new chipset. The KT-266 was given a higher performing memory controller, and was dubbed the KT-266A. The performance of the chipset was fantastic, giving AMD a very nice launch companion for it's new Athlon XP processor to compete against the 2 GHz Pentium 4. Consumers warmed to the chipset, obviously tiring of the aging 760 chipset from AMD. Motherboard manufacturers have embraced the chipset as well, as more than a few companies who didn't want to touch the KT-266 chipset are making KT-266A motherboards.
