ASUS Z97-Pro Wi-Fi AC Intel Z97 Motherboard Review

Earlier this week, ASUS began unveiling their latest Intel Z97 motherboards to the world. We were given the chance to look at the ASUS Z97-Pro (Wi-Fi ac), though we couldn’t show any of the performance benchmarks at that time. Well that time has passed and here we are now. Today we are going to run through our gambit of tests and put the ASUS Z97-Pro (Wi-Fi ac) motherboord through its paces....

Fractal Arc Mini R2

Once Fractal designs a case they normally go back through and make sure to design similar models that fit the needs of people who need small, medium, and large sized builds. There isn’t anything worse than finding the perfect case for you then finding out that it’s not going to fit your build. We already have taken a good look at the Arc XL from Fractal, so when the Arc Mini R2 came in the similarities were too hard to ignore. If it’s anything like its much larger brother we will most likely love the Arc Mini R2, but of course we have to take a much closer look to find out more about it.

Gigabyte BRIX Projector Ultra Compact PC Kit Review

The whole idea behind Gigabyte’s BRIX ultra compact PC kit’s are to give you a functional PC with an extremely small form factor. This makes them perfect for a media or internet machine. Their small size means you can put them pretty much anywhere as well. While the BRIX systems have been out for a while the BRIX projector is a newer product that takes a BRIX ultra compact PC Kit and adds a micro-projector for a complete and very cool setup. It is actually quite impressive that Gigabyte has been able to fit a projector right on top of the BRIX, making it not much larger than the normal version. The Gigabyte BRIX Projector that we are taking a look at today is powered by the Intel i3-4010U 1.7GHz processor and Intel HD 4400 graphics. Being that this is a “PC Kit” you will need to install your own DDR3L memory and mSATA drive. Let’s take a look!

Ozone Neon Precision Laser Gaming Mouse Review

Ozone are one of the coolest gaming brands on the market, with a reputation that has proven popular with both the casual gaming market and professional eSports players, often blending high-performance and quality with affordable price tags, a great combination for any gaming peripheral.

The Ozone Neon gaming mouse is packed full of features that should make it a great tool for any gamer, with a max DPI of 6400 and a precision laser sensor, ergonomic ambidextrous design that will suit both left and right-handed players, on the fly DPI toggling, a non-slip rubber coating, programmable buttons and software for recording macros.

We’ve seen a few Ozone products here at eTeknix and to this day we haven’t seen anything that hasn’t impressed us, and today I’m hoping to see the same high level of quality and award-winning performance I have come to expect from the brand. Available at around £45 the mouse isn’t the most high-end product on the market, but its price and specifications put it against some strong competition from the likes of SteelSeries, Zowie and many others.

SATA Express Performance on ASUS Hyper Express Drive

Last week we talked about what makes SATA Express important and showed off some performance benchmarks of the ASUS Hyper Express SATA Express External Enclosure. Synology DS414j 4-Bay NAS Review

Throughout the Synology product range each other models available can come in one of three variations the first of these is the standard series and this has no indicator after the name giving us a model name such as DS414. The second option, which is indicated by plus after the model number indicates that this is a performance system offering the best features that Synology have to offer, whilst the third option indicated by a ‘j’ indicates that a model is geared for the entry-level user whose focus is more on getting the largest capacity as possible was not worried about performance either things too much. Typically, ‘j’ series systems have tended to come with a single core processor and by doing so this has kept the price point down, which for the entry-level user is more important than performance.

All is about to change however, the system that we are looking at today – the DS414j – is Synology’s first system to offer a dual core processor on an entry-level-based system. in addition to a dual core processor we also see for the first time USB 3.0 been featured and once we take the latest version of DSM into account solution for users in a small office and home office environment as well as home-media enthusiasts who want a centralised and highly accessible storage solution for an affordable price.

Synology DS414j Review

Four-bay, budget-friendly NAS designed with home users in mind. If there's one thing that most, if not all, technology users have in common, it's that our storage needs are evolving. Many of us have more data than ever before, and whether it's on our smartphones, our PCs, our tablets or somewhere in the cloud, we often run the risk of losing the data we've spent so much time in gathering. And be honest, how many of us actually take the time to perform regular backups?

Each individual's data is becoming increasingly important, and the proliferation of mobile devices is such that a network-attached storage (NAS) device now makes a whole lot of sense in the web-connected home. Data servers have been commonplace in small business or office environments for some time, but in response to market trends, manufacturers who have been successful in the workplace are now redoubling their efforts on home NAS solutions.

Thermaltake Urban SD1 MicroATX Case Review

Thermaltake has recently added another chassis to their Urban lineup. A modern update of the classic Lanbox Lite chassis (also by Thermaltake), the Urban SD1 is designed for builders that are building around the mATX/mITX form factors and still want room for large graphics cards, AIO liquid coolers and multiple drives. Utilizing modular internals in a chassis not much bigger than many ITX boxes, the Urban SD1 promises an easy building experience. Weighing in at 5.8 kg and with dimensions of 239 x 280 x 456mm (HWD), will this sophisticated relative of the Lanbox / Armor A30 deliver on its claims of high-performance in a micro-ATX form factor? Benchmark Reviews was given an opportunity to build a system in the Urban SD1 (model CA-1A9-00S1NN-00), so let’s see what changes have been incorporated in this new member of the Urban chassis family.

Windows Phone 8.1 Tip: Master Airplane Mode

Airplane mode seems simple enough: Just toggle this feature when you're on an airplane or other offline situation, shutting down all of the device's radios and saving battery life. But in Windows Phone, Airplane mode is a bit more nuanced, and in Windows Phone 8.1, in particular, it's far more accessible too.

Windows Phone 8.1 Tip: Master Storage

Windows Phone 8.1 includes an improved Storage Sense utility that lets you easily track how much of your handset's storage is used and by what. But now you can also use this utility to uninstall apps, move apps between built-in and microSD storage, and determine which items are stored on microSD by default. It's a much more complete solution than what was available in previous Windows Phone versions.
