ASUS X99-Deluxe Motherboard Review

While reviewing the Intel Core i7 5960X processor, the new X99 platform left a good impression and I was eager to dedicate an article to the ASUS X99-Deluxe motherboard that was at the heart of the test system. Today, I will be firing up the new X99 based test system again; with the ASUS X99-Deluxe motherboard being the star of the show.

Even though the element of surprise was a bit spoiled by the results seen in the Intel Core i7 5960X processor review, I can't help but continue being impressed with the X99-Deluxe. Over the years, I had the chance to work with quite a few ASUS motherboards and I personally own three boards from the manufacturer including a Crosshair IV Formula ROG that still feels as if I just took it out of the box (which I still have too!). Looking at the X99-Deluxe, I can see the brand maturity resulting from a lineage of great designs. With a splendid color scheme and a rich feature list, the ASUS X99-Deluxe seems intent to set a new standard in the motherboard world.

be quiet! Pure Rock CPU Cooler Review

When I think of be quiet! CPU Cooler their Dark Rock Pro series comes to mind. These coolers are made to handle the highest thermal loads and are quite large. Not everyone is going to need this type of cooling and for that reason be quiet! has released the Pure Rock CPU cooler. This cooler is designed for the essential or entry-level systems to provide a great price-to-performance ratio. The Pure Rock has a single tower design that should not interfere with memory or other components, four 6 mm copper heatpipes and a 120 mm cooling fan. Let’s see what this cooler can do!

Corsair Graphite Series 380T

The market for Mini-ITX based LAN rigs has grown a lot over the past few years. This is both because people are realizing that you can get the same performance out of a small rig as a big one and also because companies are finally starting to produce the products we always needed to really go all out with our SFF builds. Corsair is one of those companies, they have introduced a few different Mini-ITX cases but the introduction of their 380T from their Graphite Series really caught my eye. For one they have been toying with the idea of bringing out a whole bunch of eye catching colored versions of the 380T. But additionally they put together a design that is easy to carry with a handle but it also has a large window inside. That means you can get it to LANs and also show off what is inside. That is having your cake and getting to eat it too.

Dell Latitude 12 5000 Series Review

Dell sells the Latitude line as business class notebooks, and the 5000 series that we received is the mainstream line for business. The Latitude 12 is the smallest model offered, with a 12.5-inch 16:9 display in a fairly small form factor. This is no ultrabook though, with a starting weight of 3.44 lbs (1.56 kg) and a thickness of 0.9-inches (22.7 mm) but the thickness and mass lend the device to being stronger, and unlike ultrabooks, connectivity in the office is easier due to the inclusion of a full Ethernet port and a docking port.

Patriot Fuel iON Magnetic Wireless Charger Review

In the world of wireless charging of devices there are several competing technologies. The Qi (pronounced Chee) inductive power standard is probably the leading technology when it comes to wireless charging. Qi Wireless charging solutions use a pad and a receiver on the device for inductive charging. In the past I have found devices using Qi to be unable to keep a full battery charge while streaming music through Bluetooth. It can also be difficult at times to find the exact spot to place a device where the charger needs to be and a slight bump and move it out of alignment. Patriot is using another method of wireless charging, they went with Magnetic Charging on their Fuel iON solutions. To help explain this technology and see it in action, Patriot provided us a Fuel iON system for the Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone.

UE MEGABOOM portable bluetooth speaker review

We review a wide cross section of headphones on KitGuru – from cheap, no frills sub £50 gaming products for the mass market to £4000+ monsters (http://www.kitguru.net/site-news/highlights/zardon/abyss-1266-headphone-review/) purely targeting the audiophile user. While headphones are indispensable they are useless for a small group of people wanting to share music on the move. That is where the Ultimate Ears MEGABOOM comes in. It is a tall, but compact and colourful speaker with a surprising amount of output power, smart Bluetooth connectivity and a rated 20 hours of battery life.

Windows, SSDs and Defragmentation: the definitive answer

Solid State Drives are great. If you switch from a platter-based drive to a SSD you will think you are in speed-heaven for the first time. Windows boots faster, programs start faster and everything seems to be improved speed-wise.

With the first generation of Solid State Drives, things deteriorated quickly due to limited write cycles and controllers that were far from optimal.

New generation drives, like the Samsung 850 Evo, benefit from better firmware and controllers, which makes them more durable and faster.
