xplorer2 has been released

xplorer² targets the music collector, digital photography enthusiast, software developer, web designer and in general users dealing with a lot of files, who find the basic windows explorer limited or even irritating for everyday file management tasks.

In contrast to other programs in the explorer replacement market, xplorer² doesn't require a PhD in computer science to get the most out of it. It wraps its functionality in a clean minimalistic user interface that is intuitive and simple to use. It is jam-packed with small productivity enhancers covering all aspects as navigating, browsing, filtering, previewing, selecting and all other operations involved in effective management of large amounts of files and folders.

On top of the basic file management tasks xplorer² offers mass renaming, timestamp and attribute changing, setting file comments, splitting and merging, shredding, and executing template-based user commands and batch files. It can compare and synchronize folders, eliminate duplicate files and calculate useful statistics for your hard disk space usage.

Under the surface xplorer² is one of the most technologically advanced file managers, tightly integrating to nearly all modern shell features supported by windows explorer. You can browse anywhere including virtual extensions like webfolders, zipfolders and FTP. It supports column handlers giving you access to details like file comments, picture information, MP3 tags, dll versions and so on. All this rich meta-tag information is searchable too, so you can e.g. find all files with particular keywords in their comments.

xplorer² comes with a basic version that is free for non-profit use. The full version is very competitively priced at EUR 19.95.
