Working perfectly, with sound.
Note that, similarly to Syndicate Wars, running it will make it seem like it doesn't work at first, halting your PC and popping up a "low virtual memory" message. When this happens, just WAIT a couple of minutes, and it will start.
Press R in game to change to high resolution.

I've tried everything. Every configuration that I know is possible. The furthest I've got is to the Language Select screen before it locks up. The only thing I haven't been able to do is to run it in a window. I know this will work because I've tried it with DOS programs that run in windows. They work fine until I push ALT+ENTER. Then it locks up, even when I make it back into a window. I've tried "netherw.exe -windowed" in the command prompt but it doesn't make it windowed. If anyone knows the command to make programs run in a window no matter what, please tell me. By the way, I've told it to run in a window by right clicking and checking the box in "Properties" and it starts in a window (when you see the DOS4GW/setting up levels stuff) but goes to full screen when the actual game starts. If you know how I can stop it from doing that, please help me. I will be checking here often to see if anyone has answered me. THANKS to anyone!

Running this game under DOSbox with config file changes listed below the link resulted in execution that almost perfectly mimicked the execution on my old Compaq Presario 9546, 100mhz cpu, running under win95/dos? (aka Dos95 if you find that version as amusing as I do)
project home:
http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/\
windows installer/server list:
(closest thing to hotlink I can give you)
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/dosbox/DOSBox0.63-win32-installer.exe?download\
config details:
look for dosbox.config, essentially formatted like any ini/config file, and try the following modifications, then make adjustments from there...
"
[dosbox]
memsize=24
[render]
frameskip=2
[cpu]
core=dynamic
cycles=12000
cycleup=600
[mixer]
blocksize=8192
prebuffer=16
"
note that the headers are placed for you to find the settings easily, not delete the other neccessary data ;)
also, backup the original conf file, (i.e. copy & rename [the copy of] it to backup.conf or dosbox_conf.bak or some such thing)
My computer configuration:
AMD Athlon XP 2400 (256K L2 cache)
core speed just < 2000 MHz
512MB RAM (Samsung DDR-SDRAM PC2100)
Bus Speed (266mhz, 133mhz FSB)
Win2k
DOSbox 0.63
FCEU 0.98.12
Firefox 1.5.0.1 (enough . yet?)
Trillian 3.1.0.121
Radeon 9600 Pro
(500Mhz ramdac, 128MB onboard memory @ 72mhz refresh freq, full accel, via agp 4x, linked to syncmaster magic brite 763mb/713mb monitor at 1024x768x32, smartgart on, fastwrite on,
Sound Blaster Audigy 2
(soundfont cache set to 3MB; pcm 16bit)
