It works but you have to force it to work.
I have found this solution at http://pub24.ezboard.com/funofficialtexmurphy17995frm4.showMessage?topicID=282.topic

Here it is:
--------------------------------------
Poking through this board I found that most everyone has trouble getting UAKM and Pandora to work in XP (under NTFS)...

So as a die hard Tex fan myself I dusted off my wad of cd's and started playing around...and eventually got to just that playing the games! Not perfect but read on...maybe someone can help.

Okay To run these games...
- First edit your sound.inf files to turn of verification of every digital sound card. (Add ",1" to the end of the digital sound card lines)

- Next Manually edit the config ini files to include:
(This is an 8-bit SB1.0 or SBPro, only these will work)
[DIGI_CONFIG]
BoardNum=2 (or 1)
IoAddr=0x220
DMA=1
Int=5 (or 7)

(This is an Adlib at 388, but as of yet MIDI doesn't work)
[MIDI_CONFIG]
BoardNum=1
IoAddr=0x388

(Also to bypass the soundsetup)
Pass=1

- Now use VDMS Launchpad to create a shortcut to
"Tex3.exe" if this is UAKM or "Tex4.exe" if this is Pandora
With these settings:
- Lots of XMS no EMS
- DosX, VESA, and MSCDex support
- Set your Soundblaster to SB16 (NOT Sb1.0 or PRO)
and match your SB settings to those in the config.ini
- Turn OFF Adlib and Midi (as these will lock the game)
- Also if to smooth of Movies and Sound you may want to reduce CPU usage to Low usage (May not be Necessary)

Okay, now you should be able to run the game, and watch the intro with sound, but you will soon notice that the menu interface runs horribly slow. (As do some movies and sounds in UAKM). The VR seems to run smooth though.

Now you may or may not consider this playable (I don't) so heres the problem and a few possible solution:

The problem is with the way WinXP's virtual dos (NTVDM) creates hardware timer interrupts (IRQ 8's). They just aren't right, and UAKM and Pandora rely on these for a few things.

So some possible solutions are:
1. Using Moslo to "slow down" the game has for me at times sped it up, but not acceptably so.
2. Using Speedset to "speed up" the game has also worked somewhat, but it often crashes the game, and never really is fast enough (but much closer than Moslo).
3. Use a program called CLI2NOP (I found a copy at VOGONS vogons.zetafleet.com ) to create new EXE files that don't use the IRQ8 Timer, and run these instead. This is the option I use. The games will run silky smooth and as of yet (no real testing) Pandora runs without troubles. UAKM tends to cut off the end of characters speech, and some movies. (Also lips don't sync quite as well as they should, but that's getting picky)

So that's where I stand. If someone with more technical knowledge knows of a better work around for the IRQ8 problem, or can figure out why 16-bit SB and ANY Midi sound locks up the game, please let me know.

Also some people mentioned installation troubles, I haven't had any, but I set the install program to Win95 compat. So maybe that was it?

Okay Hopefully I didn't miss anything. If so, I check this board often and will get back to you as soon as I can.

Hope this helps some of you out.

Tex is the man!
