ASUS P4S800D-E Review

Posted by Philipp Esselbach on: 11/25/2003 05:33 AM [ Print | 0 comment(s) ]

OCWorkbench has posted an ASUS P4S800D-E review

SEE HOW IT COMPARES WITH 875P and 865PE in this shootout with 15 boards from various chipsets and manufacturers. ASUS P4S800D-E is the 2nd P4 board that incorporates SiS's Dual Channel DDR400 chipset. The first was the ASUS P4SDX which features the first generation 655 chipset. P4S800D-E skipped the 655FX chipset and went straight to the 655TX chipset which offers better performance. One of the most important advancements is the Advanced HyperStreaming™ Engine which makes it faster than the previous generations of SiS 655 chipsets. We always thought that SiS boards are usually featureless. You are wrong because the P4S800D-E has one of the most complete solutions out there. It features almost everything you need including Gigabit Ethernet, 4 SATA ports, 2 IDE channels, 1394, 8 x USB 2.0, AGP 8x, DC DDR400, ADI 6 channel audio, S/PFDIF Out. There is also the optional Wi-Fi slot ready to turn your board into a software access point. On top of all these, it also supports the ASUS own Ez Flash, CrashFree BIOS2 , Instant Music, Post Reporter, MyLogo2, Multilanguage BIOS, Q-FAN and AI Overclocking. There are also overclocking features for fine-tuning of voltage levels of CPU vcore, vdimm and vchipset.Performance levels of this board is very good and it is comparable to the Intel 875P and overclocked 865PE boards. Specs of the chipset is below and gallery on the following page followed by the benchmarks.
