Nero BackItUp & Burn reviewed

Nero BackItUp Burn is a bit of an odd product. While delivering relevant backup features, both offline and online, it falls short compared to dedicated products such as the excellent offline-based Acronis True Image 2009 and online-based Carbonite. And as a disc burning tool, it pales in comparison to Nero AG's own Nero 9 suite. The two things Nero BackItUp Burn does have on its side are ease of use and price. If you are looking for a slimmed-down disc burn and backup package that provides plain file backup, whole-drive and partition imaging, syncing, scheduling and even automatic backup and mirroring one volume to another, Nero BackItUp Burn is just the ticket. An added bonus is that given Nero's optical expertise with support for DVD-R/RW as well as CD-R/RW and BD-R/RE, you shouldn't have any disc compatibility problems. For advanced users looking for more control over their backups and disc burning, there are much better products. One final note: Kudos to Nero for improving its notoriously poor interface design.
