Networks Today starts off it's first Networking 201 series with an article on securing your Cisco router for the Internet.
While I doubt there is anything in this article that you couldn't find on Cisco’s web site, or in books, hopefully this will give you a “one stop shopping” for this information. Everything in this article should be able to be applied to most Cisco routers with IOS versions 11 or higher. The goal of this article is to show you how to make your router more secure from hacking, and to help protect your internal network some. But remember these steps do NOT take the place of a firewall and/or an IDS system.
