ASUS ROG Strix Wireless Review

Wireless technology is ever evolving, and for a while it seemed like it had become a forgotten feature for gaming headsets, though it seems like things are changing. Recently we had a look at the Razer ManO'War wireless headset and now we have an entry from ASUS. Merging the Strix branding with ROG to deliver powerful gaming audio wirelessly will be a sweet sound to the gaming community.

The ROG Strix Wireless headset uses the Strix headset design and packed it with low-latency 2.4GHz wireless technology, dual antenna for stable connection, a 900mAh battery that provides up to 10hours play time, and on board controls. To keep it entirely relevant for multi-platform gamers it can be used wirelessly on PC and PS4, but it can also be connected via a 3.5mm jack so it can be used on any platform or device.

ASUS X99-E-10G WS Motherboard Launched: Dual 10GBase-T Ethernet via an Integrated X550-AT2

When we wrote up our list of 10GBase-T capable consumer motherboards back in July, we noted that out of the two main ways to get 10GBase-T on a motherboard, either by and add-in card or via an integrated controller, only one example of the latter existed on the market. For almost two years, that sole motherboard has been the only integrated solution – since then, ASUS launched the Maximus VIII Assembly which comes with a single port add-in card, and we saw a micro-ATX C236 model with a single port from MSI at Computex. We also listed the X99-E-10G WS from ASUS, a new board set to come to the market and we had an early sample. We’re still testing the board, but ASUS is officially announcing it today.

The X99-E-10G WS is built like a brick outhouse, with the focus on premium workstation parts and the latest set of features ASUS could put together while still under the X99 chipset banner, rather than a Xeon chipset. The board is designed for any Broadwell-E CPU, either consumer i7 or Xeon E5 v4, with extensive heatsink arrangements to carry both the Intel X550-AT2 controller (11W), the chipset, the upgraded power delivery and additional controllers.

Tesoro Gram Spectrum Gaming Keyboard Review

Last year we took a look at our first product from Tesoro, the Excalibur Spectrum Gaming Keyboard. We were really impressed with it and now they have sent us their latest keyboard, the Gram Spectrum. The Gram Spectrum is unlike many gaming keyboards as it offers a low-profile design. It features a new mechanical gaming switch that is meant to compete against Cherry MX’s latest Repidfire switch, low-profile keycaps, RGB backlighting, and software that allows you to customize everything. We’ve never reviewed a low-profile keyboard that was made for gaming so this should be pretty interesting, follow along as we take a look at the Gram Spectrum from Tesoro.
