Vantec NexStar HX 3.5" Hard Drive Enclosure Review

Posted by Philipp Esselbach on: 10/13/2012 06:43 AM [ Print | 0 comment(s) ]

HiTech Legion has released a new article on the Vantec NexStar HX 3.5" Hard Drive Enclosure

As far as a computer user I am the typical media consumer and have lots of information to store, I tend to have the same issue with computer storage as I did in my kitchen. There really is never enough space on my hard drive and having a duplicate copy is necessary for irreplaceable data. Many people may be adopting the cloud storage method to keep things off-site. Personally I see that as an additional backup method, not a replacement for having a second copy that is easy to get to. This is where having an external hard drive comes into play, often you get a better quality device by buying an enclosure and a hard drive separately or maybe you are a techie who has unused hard drive floating around that can be utilized as external devices.

The Vantec NexStar HX designed to support the needs of both Apple and PC users. The NexStar HX supports both USB 3.0 and Firewire 800 (IEEE 1394b) interfaces. The enclosure features a vented hard aluminum casing, which acts as a heatsink for your 3.5” hard drive. An 80mm fan with an on off switch is included in the NexStar HX to cool the drive even further and prolong the life of the drive. The drive controller supports SATA III drives up to 3TB, so it can support some of the largest hard drives on the market and provide the speed to go along with it.
