Microsoft´s Windows 2000 was not responsible for a large drop in fiscal second-quarter revenues said Novell, the US software company, which had suggested it was the cause of a profit warning three weeks ago.

The sharply reduced revenues were due to problems with retailers and dealers, Novell said, as it revealed a reorganisation to capitalise on opportunities in online IT services and products.
