Slow Internet with IE using Windows 2003

Here is the problem with a fresh install of Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition. When a NEW IE browser window is opened it takes up to 1 min for it to find the URL. Even if I just visted it. After the browser hits that first page everything is back to normal and I can browse at normal speed.

ATI Radeon 9500 Boot-up Problems

I am helping a friend install a new ATI Radeon 9500 Pro into his rather older PC - a 750mhz AMD Athlon. This PC has an MSI K7 Pro Motherboard and 512mb ram and a 2x AGP slot and a 300watt power supply.

hi to all i have a problem. my explorer. exe file takes to much memory when i load up xp or do anything in the kernal. i need to know if there is a regestery tweak to disable or set a max amount of memory that is used by explorer.

Mail info on XP Welcome Screen

Hi there. . . Does anyone know why is my Windows XP Welcome Screen always telling me that I have 2 unread mail messages? I mean - I have absolutely downloaded all my email messages in Outlook XP and I am absolutely sure that there is no message marked as unread.

won't chkdsk on reboot :(

hi question for everyone. . . I have WinXP Prof. . . when I try and schedule a chkdsk on my next reboot (start > run > chkdsk /f > click 'y' to schedule) when I reboot nothing happens it just boots normally.

Need Help with FTP.EXE

I'm trying to use FTP. EXE to send and get files with spaces in them. For instance, it works fine with a file such as myfile. txt but fails with my file. txt. Does anyone know how to get this working? I tried using the 'literal' command with 'RETR my file.

160GB hard drive format prob. in 2k

Recently picked up a Maxtor 160GB drive but 2k only sees 131GB on install since Im using a service pack 2 disk. I've upgraded to SP3 now so is there a way I can get my lost 30gb or so recognized? Or am I going to have to figure out how to burn a new 2k install disc with sp3 streamlined in? TIA.

This might be a stupid question to a lot of people I don't OC my system and I am sick of noise so I disable all the case fans, the fans that are running are the CPU fan, the 2 fans on the PSU. That's all.

Hi, as the subject states. I was thinking kt400 specifically ga-7va or g-a7vaxp motherboards. but i heard you cant go the athlon 2800+ or the 3000+ even though there website says you can. anyone know anything about this.

3DMark2003 does not start at all - any ideas?

Hi, I own a XFX Geforce 4 MX 440 (64 MB DDR). When I try to start 3DMark2003, I get the message you can only run one of four tests blabla. . . so far, so good, it's only a DX7 card, therefore the message is ok.
